whatever happened to Ray Wilkins brother? Graham I think his name was, played in the same Chelsea team for a while.0

Graham Wilkins....left back....saw him play many times for Brentford in the 80's....probably about the worst there's been.0

Im really hope this aint true and am clinging to the hope that Wise did say when he left leeds tha he does not like being a manager and would not return to managment. That being said he has done well were he has been so if it is him i will back him through gritted teeth.0

Fulham and beyondIn 1997, Wilkins became the manager of Fulham, with former England teammate Kevin Keegan as "Chief Operating Officer" under him. Wilkins managed to take the big-spending side to the Second Division play-offs, but was sacked by chairman Mohamed Al-Fayed before the first game took place after Fulham lost the last three games of the regular season. Kevin Keegan, who replaced Wilkins, failed in his bid to guide the side through the play-offs that season. The two, once close England team-mates, have had frosty relations since.
After leaving Fulham, Wilkins worked as a coach at Chelsea and Watford under Gianluca Vialli, on both occasions being sacked along with Vialli (in September 2000 and July 2002 respectively). He spent the next year working mainly as a pundit before joining Millwall as assistant manager to Dennis Wise in October 2003. Wilkins left the club along with Wise in May 2005, but returned in a consultancy role from March to October 2006. He continues to work as a pundit with Sky Sports.
Wilkins was assistant to Peter Taylor with the England under 21's until Peter left in early 2007. Wilkins was not retained by incoming head coach Stuart Pearce.
In September 2008 he was appointed as assistant first team coach to Luiz Felipe Scolari at Chelsea, following Steve Clarke's departure to West Ham United. In February 2009, following Scolari's shock sacking,[3] Wilkins was appointed as Chelsea's caretaker manager for the Fifth round FA Cup tie with Watford.[4] Chelsea won the game 3–1, through a Nicolas Anelka hat trick, with the club's new manager Guus Hiddink watching from the stands.[5][6]
Ray Wilkins October 2010It was announced on 11 November 2010 that Wilkins contract with Chelsea would not be renewed and that he would leave the club with immediate effect.[7] On 1 December 2010, Wilkins reached what he described as a "harmonious conclusion" with Chelsea following his unexpected departure from Stamford Bridge. While appearing as a guest on Sky Sports Champions League coverage on 7 December 2010, Wilkins claimed that Chelsea still have not given him a reason for his sacking.[8]0 -
Whatever anyone says about the pair of them, I suspect they'd try to get us playing a bit of constructive football. Whether they can spot the players necessary to do it or improve the ones we've got, who knows? Wilkins seems an affable sort and I'm sure the players would warm to him. If Wise is going to be No.1 then he doesn't have to be especially affable.0

If this occurs it proves that we are just a toy for the new owners. Certainly goes against their stated aim of increasing the crowds; if wise is appointed then I think his first game may have the lowest attendance for many a year...

maybe Wise would be Director of Football and Wilkins Manager. People seem happy if it were Steve Clarke so why not Wilkins ? Wouldn't be my first choice but wouldn't be my last either.0

Bothers me massively, can't give a reason why but it does.
Probably because Slater said he (Wise) wasnt involved which makes me question HIS integrity and Wises' integrity and references don't stand up to much either whether its from fans of clubs he's been involved in or from the great late Sir Bobby.0 -

I think you credit fans with principles, we'll have anyone as maanger if they deliver results, it really is what happens on the field that determines coming to the game.0 -

I'd be happy with that. He did a great job at Newcastle under extreme pressure. However, I doubt he'd drop down to League 1.

Even when we were on good runs with Parky at the helm, there was still criticism of him from some quarters. Someone yesterday mentioned the 6-1 loss to Leeds where we did the conga, contrast that with any of Parky's losses. When Sooper Al was here, and doing crap people weren't on his back until near the end. Initial perceptions last and don't take long to bubble to the surface...0 -
I'd be happy with either Wise / Wilkins or with Hughton to be honest.

Exactly my thinking, Slater will have gone back on his word twice in his first week!
Wilkins I suppose as number 2 wouldn't be so bad, world of difference working with the Drogbas and Terrys to now the Abbots and Llera's though.
I'm hoping talksport are right, they did say about a board meeting on Tuesday and then Parky was sacked. Houghton would probably be one of the highest on my list for potential new manager, hard working, respectable, good coach and doesn't require the spotlight on him to do a job. Out of all the potential managers listed he seems the one to most match Charlton IMO0 -

I have no problem with Butch. A complete gentleman who knows his football.
However, if Wise comes anywhere near my club, I'm not.
KB made me an offer yesterday that made me mull over my position. But I honestly think I could not do it.
I have my reasons, from first hand experience & that's it.
Plus I have to agree with WSS, Slater would just cement himself as Jimenez lackey as that's clearly the case. And it would appear RM & PV have very little say, if any.

I Disagree, although wise was a rude short tempered player he has done well at the previous clubs he managed and as for Wilkins he has also alot of knowledge and connections. I reckon that the appointment of Wise wouldn't change the attendence... all we want are points on the board regardless of who is managing the team.
