The board gave us what we apparently wanted

The playing personnel was unchanged

The fans would have booed under Parky

The fans did not sing or support anywhere near enough today before we scored, players like Francis, McCormack, Jackson will not be fazed by fans 2 foot from them abusing them but it seems they don't like playing in a big, quiet stadium and rightly so.

J and H block need to up their game. I have no voice left, it's all too abovious people come to the north upper to be hear the atmosphere not to contribute to it.

Seeeee ayyyyy effff seeeee

Red army

We have more songs than that and we have loud gobs in our support, them loud gobs need to open more in support

  • I'll stick my hand up straight away I attempted to sing along with a couple of VFR's and Chrissy Powell's etc but alas, I have the voice of a 95 year old at the moment... bloody tonsillitis!

No matter how well we do there will always be complaints. Things will not change in a flash, the atmosphere at todays game was a huge improvement from the last few months. We can gradually build on that but it isn't going to change completly in a fortnight.

Todays game was the best I had been to ages, very good support all round especially after the final whistle.
  • I was in J block upper and have lost my voice but you are right....it was hairs standing on the back of the neck at times but would have been even better if had been more constant. Think Jackson's injury stifled it a bit aswell as the team was hammering them for a period at that point.

The support may not have been great but it was much better, and certainly more positive in the main, than for most of this season.

    That'll do for a start!
  • Oh I agree it could have been better but I didn't really think about that as I was just so happy it was a BIG improvement.

Should be compulsory for North Upper to be shitfaced before they are allowed through the turnstiles. Not so shy then.

Had a tear in my eye when Powell punched the air at full time. Great day all round.

well the ultras trying to out do each other in the self-congratulatory stakes after managing 2 renditions of vfl gets right on my tits. just as you start to build it up everyone's - oh jolly well done! you just kill the atmosphere immediately rather than to keep singing it untill everyone eventually joins in or just launch staight into another chant. the clapping though is so lame.

I think it was great. I didn't see any Charlton fans snarling at each other. A big improvement.

Agree Len. The bad memories will take a while to fade so there's bound to be a bit of uncertainty about. Needs time and a generous dollop of goodwill, we'll get there.

Was hairs on the back of the neck when he came out of the tunnel at the start for me.

Sat in the east today down towards the Jimmy seed. Gotta say it was like a morgue for most of the game from where I was. Was probably different being amongst it in the upper north so will defo be back there for the next game.

Also gotta say seeing the bouncy being done from thousands of the north upper looks quality. Gotta keep that going

Good to see the North upper fuller than it has been for some time. The bounce was excellent. The chants for Chris Powell's red army were great to hear. Sent tingles up my spine. It was a great day. I am proud of the club.

Problem is the drumbeat just encourages CAFC clap clap and bang bang RED ARMY :-(

Go to a good turn out away game and all the old songs come out, why not at The Valley?

Product of the times I'm afraid. How often do you see the drummer away from home?

we need to keep doing chrissys powells red and white army - that was the loudest we've been for a while, and we kept singing it for longer than 10 seconds!

Atmosphere a lot more positive than usual. Saddest thing was hearing the boos for Abbott when he came on. Just how unhelpful is that?

The drummer needs to learn the beat to some of the other songs,
there was a different person drumming at peterboro and we barely stopped singing for the whole match

heard that and it made me feel really bad for him, at the end of the last home match he scored
was there a special reason for everybody to boo, or was it just because sometimes he is rubbish?
seems that people just enjoy booing so much that they will choose a new one to target everytime we get rid of one

Are you serious... these useless c**** should get lifetime bans from the Valley and be taken out the back and have the absolute s*** kicked out of them..... they are not welcome, they are not supporters of this club and they should be banned... totally chuffing mugs...
  • Booing a player before they come on is a total p***take to be honest.
  • Was appalled by that

The fans are in rehab, they have had such a challenging time in the recent past they cant help themselves some of them... to boo Abbott is laughable, makes me sorry for the people that booed him, we need leaders in the stands now.... the fact that we didnt have the air of tension in the stands todday, the fact that our of respect for powell we didnt put the pressure on the players, the fact the fans went quiet yet the booers didnt start clearing their throats ready to attack(apart from the pathetic few who to their delight found something to boo, PATHETIC!) SO overall a much more positive atmosphere...

I cant wait til we start to play well again on a regualr basis and the booers have to find a new club to try and damage...

If you booed Abbot today, please take this to heart... YOU ARE NOT WELCOME AT THE VALLEY ANY LONGER !!!

Thank you ... we dont want your money.. we dont need people like you...

We could not have created a more positive envirronment for you today and you act like this...

Any one man enough to admit they booed Abbot?

Anyone man enough to explain why?

    Thought not...
