  • Elliot - 8
    Francis - 6
    Doherty - 7
    Dailly - 7
    Bessone - 7
    Wagstaff - 6
    Semedo - 9 MoM
    McCormack - 7
    Jackson - 6
    Wright-Phillips - 7
    Anyinsah - 7
  • Elliot - 8 - some crucial saves and, apart from 1 slice, solid kicking throughout
Francis - 7.5 - definitely one of his better games. No defensive mistakes and a real threat with corners
    Doherty - 7.5 - Excellent performance from both centre-backs
    Dailly - 7.5 - see above
Bessone - 7 - decent performance although didn't show enough to justify dropping of Fry
Wagstaff - 7.5 - involved all the time, combined well with Francis
    Semedo - 9 - Immense.
McCormack - 7 - played quite well but would have preferred to see Racon. Having said that, McOxo may have been more suited to mixing it with Colchester's physical style
Jackson - 6.5 - quiet by his standards, missing Fry?
    Wright-Phillips - 7 - good finish
Anyinsah - 7.5 - great at retaining possession

    Benson - 6.5
    Fry - 6.5
Eccleston - 6.5, could have been 7.5 if the ref had waited another 30 seconds before blowing the full time whistle
  • Elliot-8 Three good saves one very good one on stroke of half time. Put under pressure with constant back passes but dealt with those and every ball in the air was claimed bar one punch which was clear far out of the area. Don't think he will ever get the credit he deserves from some.
Francis-7 Very good going forward and defended very well. Lots of blocks and clearences. Some sloppy control when not under pressure which maybe says he's thinking about it too much and still getting nervous.
Doherty-7 Easy game for him. Not pace from Col U and he was always in control
    Dailly-7 Ditto
Bessone-7 Good debut. Few times he wasn't sure iif to stay or go forward but that is understandable. Has real pace but will have harder games.
Wagstaff-6.5 bottled up by their defence. The one time he got away and into the box we scored
Semedo- 8.5 A rock and very intelligent play near the end to slow the game and draw the time wasting foul
McCormack-6.5 Not as impressive as last week but worked hard, helped the defence and game saving header off the line
Jackson-6 Not his best, poor miss that cost me my JJ first goal/2-0 bet at 33/1.
Wright-Phillips-7.5 Little sight of a decent ball but extra point for a debut goal and what a good finish
Anyinsah-6.5 A battle against a solid defence and little to work with but kept going

    n/a Benson-6 Not good
n/a Fry- 7 Came on late when the team was under pressure and coped well
n/a Eccleston- 6.5 Short cameo but he has lovely touch, vision and pace.

Col U - Decent, hard working side who will feel aggrieved they didn't get the draw they came for. A valuable three points to us taken off a promotion rival. Onwards and Upwards.
  • Elliot 8.5 kept us in it with some excellent saves
Francis 7 Mixture of sublime and ridiculous but never hides
    Doherty 7 steady
    Dailly 7 steady
    Bessone 7 Encouraging debut
Wagstaff 7 hard work off the ball nice assist for the goal
Semedo 8 other than "the tackle" quiet in the first half but immense in the second
McCormack 7 another decent performance. Didn't initially realise he cleared off the line at the death
    Jackson 7 steady
Wright-Phillips 7.5 great goal hence the extra .5 but underwhelmed with his general game
Anyinsah 7.5 worked his b**** off

n/a Benson 5.5 looked out of sorts
n/a Fry 6 nothing good or bad
    n/a Eccleston 6 as Fry
  • Elliot - 8
    Francis - 6
    Doherty - 6.5
    Dailly - 6.5
    Bessone - 7
    Wagstaff - 6
    Semedo - 8.5
    McCormack - 7
    Jackson - 5.5
    Wright-Phillips - 7.5
    Anyinsah - 6.5
  • Elliot- 7.5 Stopped what he had to - distribution good.
Francis- 7 Usual combination of good and bad - 3 beautiful crosses on the run, poor backpass that could have cost us - good strength and passing followed by sloppy passing. I think there is a good player in there and maybe if some were not so quick to jump on his every error he might start showing it.
    Doherty- 7.5 solid.
Dailly- 7 solid, though thought he lacked composure on occasions given balls back to Colchester that he could have played to our players.
Bessone- 7 Definsively sound, when player got passed him, out paced him to win ball back - passing tidy and accurate - I was hoping for the type of runs Francis was making to give us width but he showed he was capable of this with an excellent run into the box just before our goal. Promising.
Wagstaff- 6.5 Pretty anonymous and lacking the tricks to be effective as a wide man, should have done better with early chance......until their defence tired - the game came to him in the final quarter and he became a threat and great work for the goal.
Semedo- 9 That was a midfield masterclass MOM
McCormack- 7 worked hard - some good interceptions - little creativity but involved throughout.
Jackson- 6.5 Missed great chance, quiet for long spells and looked shot at the end.
Wright-Phillips- 8 Busy, nice touches, goal was very well taken.
Anyinsah- 6.5 Worked hard but their big strong defenders played him well- kept them honest though.
n/a Benson- 6.5 Put in a decent shift for the short time he was on.
n/a Fry- 6 Did what was asked of him
n/a Eccleston- 7 Not on for long but very lively - Probably should have come on a tad earlier as he is a livewire. Think he will be pushing for a starting birth sooner rather than later.

Looking at the marks, which I think are fair - you'd think we bossed the game and created a hatful of chances. Maybe, it suggests we need to gel more as a team and maybe it also suggests that some credit must go to Colchester who are a solid, hard team to beat -lacking in flair yes, but every player sticks to his tasks and with a bit of luck, they could have got the 3 points yesterday.

Finally, I can honestly say, I have never seen a incident like last night in all my years of watching football. Ref made a major gaff but he couldn't give a goal after he had wrongly blown his whistle, and the fact he tried to, only compounded his error. I'd be angry if I was at the other end of that debacle so have to have sympathy with Colchester.
  • Elliot - 7.5

    Wagstaff - 6.5
    Semedo - 8

    Anyinsah - 6.5
  • Elliot 7
Francis 6 (if only he could pass )
    Doherty 7
    Dailly 7
Bessone 7 will speed be enough?
Wagstaff 3 still don't get this bloke, we must have better.
Semedo 9 best performance ever as far as I am concerned
    McCormack 6
    Jackson 5
    Wright-Phillips 5
    Anyinsah 5
  • Elliot 7
    Francis 7
    Doherty 6
    Dailly 6
    Bessone 6
    Wagstaff 6
    Semedo 8
    McCormack 6
    Jackson 6
    Wright-Phillips 6
    Anyinsah 6
  • Elliot -7 Some good saves, very solid
Francis - 6 A game of two halves. Dangerous in the opponents half and equally dangerous in ours. If he'd restricted himself to one or the other he'd have either scored a 9 or a 3
Doherty - 6.5 Very solid, although the keeper had to stop a few.
Dailly - 7 As above, brought it out well
Bessone - 6.5 Good debut, but may have given a pen away at the end before he was carried off
Wagstaff - 5.5 Missed a good chance early on and then little came off for him, with Francis carrying the main threat on the right. Still caused concern in the lead up to the goal.
Semedo - 8 Rarely put a foot wrong.
McCormack - 5 Barely noticed him, so started watching him closely in case he's one of these football geniuses that does a lot of stuff that the punter doesn't spot. If he is, it's still not apparent to me!
Jackson - 6 Fluffed a good chance and failed to really assert himself. Tucked in too much so Bessone/Semedo didn't have him as an option out wide
Wright-Phillips - 7.5 Good start, came into the game the more it went on
Anyinsah - 6 Worked and fought hard, but sometimes too spaced out from BWP. We looked better when Benno came on.

  • Elliot - 7.5 Good saves and a good punch towards the end. Very important player in this team.
Francis - 7 He'd have got an 8 if he could controlled the couple that bounced off him. I think he can defend although he's not quite powerful enough in the air when he's jumping with an opponent (doesn't use his arms for leverage). Great running and crossing.
Doherty - 7 He was fine.
Dailly - 7.5 Won loads of headers.
Bessone - 7 Very neat and tried to play. Also gave it a whack when needed. Looked quick.
Wagstaff - 6 Does struggle to get into games but did really well for the goal. The one time he tried to take on a man and cross. Still learning.
Semedo - 7.5 Did his usual stuff very well.
McCormack - 6.5 Did ok in a tight midfield tussle. Tried to put the strikers away late on.
Jackson - 6 Did ok but didn't (and doesn't) create enough. Reid may have to start some of these home games.
Wright-Phillips - 7 Superb goal but not sure Anyinsah is his ideal partner.
Anyinsah - 6 Loads of effort but very little quality. His goal record isn't at all great and must be under pressure from Benson.

Benson - 6 Looked rusty but got a bit better as it went on. Have a feeling that he might suit BWP better than Anyinsah. Time will tell though.
Fry - 7 Good cameo and just what was needed. Needed to up his game a bit and has already showed signs of doing so.
Eccleston - with so many games coming up he's going to get enough chances to play. Unfortunately young footballers tend to think only of themselves and very short term. Good player who will learn a lot with us if he knuckles down.
  • Elliot - 7 - looked compfortable for most of the night, a pulled off a couple of good saves
Francis - 6- look good going forward at times and that earned him a much higher rating than his defending justified. As a defender he just does not fill me with confidence. his first touch is appalling, he's constantly out of position and he puts others under pressure with his poor passing.
Doherty - 7 - solid game from the ginger pele last night.
Dailly - 7 - solid enough, and bring the ball out of defence well
Bessone - 6 - Matty Fry can consider himself very unlucky after being replaced in the starting line up by bessone who got caught knapping a couple of times but overall an OK performance.
Wagstaff - 7 - Busy as ever, another solid performance
Semedo - 8 - excellent game, outshone his midfield partner McCormack easily. Tough tackling and committed
McCormack - 6 - cleared the ball off the line, and was generally OK. still a little lightweight though.
Jackson - 6 - didn't really get into the game to often. what he did he did well, but with little end product.
Wright-Phillips - 7- kept plugging away and took his goal very well, despite poor service.
Anyinsah - 7 - Held the ball up very well, and was always an outlet for us. little goal threat though
    SUBS
Fry - 6- should have started in my view. he may not offer the same attacking prowess as other fullbacks but is a very affective defender. look solid when he came on but didn't have enough time to make a major impact
Benson - 6 - I think we looked better as a team when he came on, looked a bit more mobile than anyinsah, although his first touch was rusty, and offers a greater goal threat
Ecclestone - 6 - not on long enough to make a major impact, although if the game was 30secs longer i think he would have. provide genuine pace and makes defenders nervous. should be getting a bit more time on the field soon.
  • Elliot - 7 Made saves that he should have done. Kicked well
Francis - 7 Good attacking and a couple of awesome crosses. Kept losing the posession in our own half but he recovered most of the time or the ball just bounced out. (he rarely went over the halfway line when Parky was in charge)
Doherty - 7 Defended well but one awkward clearance that Miguel "accident waiting to happen" Llera would have got slated for
Dailly - 8 Defended well and made a couple of runs forward taking the game to them
Bessone - 7 Picked his passes out of defence well. Looks weaker than Fry defensively but stronger offensively (Although Fry is a CB)
Wagstaff - 6 Their keeper made an excellent save against him but only occasionally involved
Semedo - 8 Was probably worth a 7 but the last 15 minutes he was fantastic
McCormack - 7 Did ok. His partnership with Semedo can work but it relies on the LMid and RMid actually creating or doing anything
Jackson - 5 Should have scored but the ball did bounce up awkwardly. He did nothing else.
Wright-Phillips - 7 Looked lively and likes to have a shot which alot of our players are shy at.
Anyinsah - 6 Worked hard but not much happened for him

n/a Benson - We looked slightly better when he came on
n/a Fry - Defended really well when he came on
n/a Eccleston - really fast, I hope he gets more minutes in the next match
  • Elliot- 7 Standard
Francis- 5/6 this guy is one of the worst right backs i have seen at Charlton, Defensively awful!!!
    Doherty- 6
    Dailly-6
    Bessone-6
    Wagstaff-6
    Semedo-7
McCormack-6 Great goal line clearance but he is as bad as Francis, can see why Southend got rid of them!
Jackson-6 Should have scored but hey he's got laods so lets be fair
Wright-Phillips-7 Good signing will get better, at last better than Abbott or Benson by miles!
Anyinsah- 6 Not turned into the complete player yet, average

Overall very fortunate to win, but still 3 points, who cares really, lets just get the hell out of this awful league!

Good to see the Officials get it completly wrong as usual, must be such a difficult job!

  • Everyone worked hard for each other and the team, there is definitely a spirit that we have and it's great to see.
Everyone a 7/8 execpt for Semedo.
I dont think you can rate him out of 10 after last night, it has to a 11. He was brilliant. MOM by far!

  • Elliot - 7.5 (v good handling, distribution OK, too)
Francis - 6 (can see CP turning him into something worthwhile, which seemed highly unlikely a few weeks ago)
    Doherty - 6.5
    Dailly - 6.5
Bessone - 7 (liked the look of him v much)
Wagstaff - 6.5 (prefer him as a striker, but we've now got too many!)

McCormack - 7.5 (excellent, esp. first half. Get the feeling CP sees him as an important player)
Jackson - 5 (two poor games running - cause for concern?)
Wright-Phillips - 7 (looks like the kind of player who will make his own chances raher than moan about 'lack of service')
    Anyinsah - 6.5

Powell 10 (again - he's not put a foot wrong yet, has he? No clean sheet in almost three months - and he comes in and gets two in two games)
