Get better players in... It's a simple as that! That's as much of a job for the board as it is the manager. Nothing has changed, Murray's financial limitations ended up giving us what quality we got on the pitch... The squad is as much a reflection of him as any of his recent past managers, and now we don't have a clue about our new financial backers intent with how they want to strengthen the squad or even if they can?0 -

Though I was a Parky-in at the time, I think it's unfair to judge Powell after so few games. It's possible we'd have more points from these games, but who can really say? Don't think Parky should have been sacked, because he was doing well in a difficult job, likewise Powell is in a difficult job now and shouldn't be expected to storm this league, but of course we need to do better than we did tonight (and against Notts - though I felt we were a tad unlucky in that game)0

Short memory mate. What is factually incorrect about what i said? Look back at what PP's record was in his first 8 that got him the gig.
Yes 5th but no guarantee we would be any higher or lower had he stayed. Saw enough to know that we were not going anywhere under him and the whole atmosphere at the club was depressed.
If after the same time PP was given Powell has failed to achieve what his predecessor had (ie whimpered out in the playoffs) then ill agree that it's bull crap. Til then I stand by it that we were no better off under Parkinson with the numpties he's put together as a team.0 -
if i had started a new job and my employer (fans) was getting on my back after 6 weeks, due to not having revelutionised my company and had sorted all of its problems, i'd feel a bit unsupported. give CP a break, i know the Sir Chris tag has been dropped now, but come on, he's a new manager in his first solo job. We 'all' wanted a change of management and the majority were happy with his appointment, so lets keep behind him for at least 3 months ;-)0

We are all heading straight back to that depression.... boos tonight, crowd leaving in droves, a massive backfire with 24500 watching us get taken apart by Exeter and Notts county score one of thier bum on TV....
We need the check book open we need to spend about 3 mill to get us going anywhere, another few years of this and we will back to target 10k... Powell has a massive job on his hands and no we will not reach the playoffs... we cant, its impossible with a team that concedes constant dead ball goals, and has no midfiled going forward and a back line as fragile as a house of cards...
disaster, Parkinson would have done better over these games particularly with BWP and ecclestone in the squad... At least Murray can sit back and for once not feel the full force of responsibilty in the fact he finally managed to sell the club...

Speaking as a Parky fan, who thought he was unfairly treated and was sad to see him go, I'd say that right now it really doesn't matter. Chris Powell is still a Charlton legend, but that doesn't matter either. What matters is he's our manager, and we need to get behind him.
The wins in his first few games didn't make him a tactical genius, and the defeats in the last few games don't make him a complete dunce. He's not the messiah and he's not a very naughty boy. He's just a young manager learning his trade with a team that his predecessor had to cobble together from only 6 first team players at the start of pre-season training, plus the one signing he's so far been able to make. There's no need to over-react, either to the wins or the defeats.0 -
