CHARLTON are handing professional deals to a couple of their most promising youngsters.
Norbury-raised winger Callum Harriett and defender Harry Osborne, both 17, have been offered contracts.
Harriett, who joined the Addicks at the age of nine and has been an unused substitute recently, has been handed a two-year deal.

A very promising centre back
As for Harriott - he's a carbon copy of Kyel Reid ( just hopefully more committed to the clubs cause than his wallet). Short, very fast, very direct, fairly strong and a left foot like a traction engine
Sounds promising but handbook says that while Osbourne was born in greenwich he now lives in South Norwood.
Not for me to decide but if it was these are the sort of players I like to see CL sponsoring next season.
Good luck to them both in any case.

With the millions thousands he'll be earning as a pro he can afford to buy rent her a place in a nicer area
The scary thing is that both were born in 1994 ie long after we came back to the Valley.
Hope they, and Cousins, get a game off the bench either this season or in the JPT/league cup next term.
Glad to hear about Harriot, shame we were never in a position to give him run outs when he was on the bench earlier in the season, even though CP said he was not ready, if we had been in a position with a lead of sorts it would have been good to see him get 5 /10 minutes. Lets hope now we are neither going up nor down, the Yoof can get a few cameo minutes. He is tiny though, along with Solly you wonder if we are feeding them properly at Sparrows lane or maybe Mambo is first in line as he is huge.
Well he would be if he is eating the other players food, stands to reason!!
Harriott is only just 17 .........but 5'5".
Probably still growing, so a good reason that Powell won't consider him as anywhere near the 1st team yet.
Time to feed him raw steak?
Large is not a lightweight midget. Otherwise he'd be an oxymoron.

How tall is lennon?? Messi?? - if he has the ability and is quick enough both with his feet and head size doesnt matter, low centre of gravity n all that quicker to react/turn etc
Ask any sports physio or specialist, he would be likely to be injury prone all his career - and possibly forced to retire early.
Different for a big lad of the same age who's already got a relatively mature physique.
Somebody like Jonjo Shelvey, for instance who was physically able to cope with the adult game at 16/17.
Harriott will be allowed to come through when he's physically ready.
But yes if you're good enough height won't be a problem for an attacking player. Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Scholes Sneijder etc all small but very good players at the top level. There are plenty more further down the leagues, even though the Champ and League 1 are considered physical. Just need enough strengths to their game to make up for a lack of height/strength.
but what if he is fully developed?? there's not much more growth after 17?? Ive not grown since I was 15, alhtouh I was over 6 foot by the age of 13 and only got to the dizzy heights of 6"2
Just pointing out that just because he's small doesnt mean he's not gonna make it or that its a massive massive disadvantage - we just have to play to his strwenghts which will no doubt be ball on the deck and not pumped up to him.
I'm sure he'll be involved pre-season and that'll be an interesting test for him.

As with Jonjo, your body was more or less fully grown at an early age.
If you had been a young pro footballer, you may have been deemed physically ready for the adult game at 17.
Lots of kids develop later; even at 18 or 19 they are still growing.
Another year could make a big difference for Harriott, and he'll come through when he's ready.
He's already been named on the 1st team bench (and given a 2-year contract on his 17th birthday).
That tells you he is very highly regarded by the Charlton management.
Expect him to feature in pre-season friendlies - and maybe even a 10 minute cameo in a League game this season,
to give him a taste and valuable experience.

Waggy was wiped out for a year by being played before he was ready.
Curbs thought so too, and gave Parker a cameo run out as a late sub a few weeks before his 17th birthday.
Apart from a handful of very occasional appearances, we never saw him again for 3 years.
Then he made his mark in style.
Sorry Scoham, but I feel that your guess will be totally wrong here. I think he will be offered a new deal.
from what I've seen I hope he won't.
