Sullivan 7- commanding again, not much he could do about the goals, kicked badly though.
Francis 7- at fault for 1st goal, didn't close attacker down, good game other than that.
Doherty 8- great game, headed ball well, played a cracking through ball to Francis in 1st half
Fortune 7.5- won lots of headers, played well
Bessone 8- Well defended, coped well
Parrett 7.5- worked hard
Semedo 7- kept on fouling which got him sent off
Stewart 8.5 MOTM- defended very well, held the middle of the park well
Reid 7.5 - good but silly sending off
Benson 7.5- played well and good goal
Eccleston 8- Great assist
n/a Solly-7- played well in a new position
n/a Nouble-3 just shocking0 -
Sullivan - 7 Looks ok to me apart from his nightmare kicking from dead balls.
Francis - 7.5 Very solid and attacked well when we had 11 men. Used his height well 2nd half when the pressure was on.
Doherty - 8 A good defender with a great attitude.
Fortune - 8 Best game of the season from him. Read the game so well and stuck to it 2nd half.
Bessone - 7.5 Defended well (one super tackle in 2nd half just outside penalty area). Very committed but don't want to see him play acting (ball in stomach requiring treatment? C'mon)
Parrett - 7.5 This boy is a really good passer. He'll get caught a bit as he comes to terms with he pace of the game but he can open teams up.
Semedo - 6.5 Too many fouls but gets good marks because in play he was good. Powell should've subbed him as soon as Reid went...if not before.
Stewart - 6.5 Worked hard without dominating. Think we look better with him but hope there is a bit more to come.
Reid - 7 Loses a mark for sending off. Daft 1st booking as he's quick enough to have caught the bloke up rather than pulled him back. What a goal and a constant threat.
Benson - 8.5 Almost as good as Anyinsah at Swindon. Chased, blocked, headed at the front, headed at the back, laid balls off and scored. Best forward on the pitch and showed leadership qualities (was always telling NE who to close down).
Eccleston - 7.5 Did so well for someone who has hardly played. Pin point cross for Benson and lots of skill. Shame he couldn't have won it when Rovers stupidly left him one on one late on.
n/a Solly
Nouble - 6.5 For sheer effort. Awkward style gave Rovers enough to think about and stopped us from being completely over-run. Looked up for getting sent off too at the final whistle which was daft.
Powell - 6 Good marks for picking a team worth watching and setting them up well. Loses marks for not subbing Semedo and therefore probably ditching any real chance of a rare win. Another ban coming up and he's got to learn to behave (his players will soon start copying him if he doesn't). Think (or hope) he will have learnt a lot from today.0 -
