Good, positive but honest and realistic IMHO interview with Powell on transfer policy.

Tell what, you can get some decent stuff in TK Maxxs

I think taking Danny Hollands on a THREE YEAR contract from a league rival should suggest we should take all musings from Powell and all budgetary concerns with a bucket of salt. The last time we were in a position to act so early in the transfer window we were in the Premier League. I think, and hope, there will be a surprising difference between what is said and what is done this summer.

I once picked up a brand new pair of Adidas f50.8's in TKMaxx just 6 weeks after the release, only cost me £35 too

Depends what your budgetary concerns were.     We don't know how much the contract is for but what it indicates to me isn't that we have necessarily a lot of money but that we know we'll have at least the same amount of money next year and the year after. And after recent years that is a good thing in itself.

I was alluding to the hysteria on the Bromley Addicks post... it also indicates to me we're at least trying to build in the mid-term by ensuring we haven't got a key player revolving door every May

I once picked up a Belstaff Che Guevara in TK Maxx. Well happy with that.

Isn't TK Maxx a bit Essex?

I agree on long term building although it's only one player.

But what Powell says here only confirms what he said at Bromley IMHO

We're getting way off topic here, but the one in Charing Cross Road had loads of Belstaff jackets a few weeks ago.

I may be taking CPs illusion to TK Maxx a little to far but perhaps he meant somewhere you can get good value branded gear as opposed to cheap tat from Primark.

I admire Powell's honesty, but sometime I wish he applies a bit of spin. Comparing us to TKMaxx, while admittedly funny, isn't particularly inspiring, to be honest. And I've read the rest of the feature.

Oh, I've just read your post, Henry, after I posted mine. Makes sense in that context.

Actually TK Maxx is a nice analogy, not "upmarket" but can get some nice gear in there, some great bargains and some good value stuff, how many players have we signed from TK Maxx before- Kinsella springs to mind. Be more worried if he said Primark!

Edit:lol just read Henry's post a couple above!

Just avoid the Southend branch  Chrissy, it has decided to specialise in tat since you left the area.

Shhhh Rothko. Shopping at Tacky Maxx is like masturbating, everybody does it but nobody owns up to it.

I don't by the way. Obviously.

Only the devil himself could have dreamed up the Croydon branch of TK Maxx. I felt like weeping when I came out of there.

Palace apparently shop at the Croyden branch, Hawksmoor.

No wonder you felt like weeping when you came out of there.

Well everybody likes a bargain, but the  link with TK max seems a little odd!.
Although they may well stock brand names they tend to be oddments/end of line, despite the marketing hype!.
They seem to have some very dodgy stuff on there racks!, the lime green jacket, but it has a designer label so delude yourself!.
Most of this stuff is made under licence. Little more than Primark with a designer label!.
So now we know where Chris buys his stuff eh!.

That could've been the reason why Oggy. If you've never been to Croydon, I beg all of you, please don't. I've seen things there that no man should have to see.

My wife (who is in marketing) tells me that the posher the area, the posher the Tacky Maxx. Therefore, according to her, the shops at Kew and Windsor are excellent and reflect their neighbourhoods purchasing power. Whilst the shops in South Norwood and Bermondsey aren't.

Lets hope Chrissie is shopping at the Kew branch.

I used to live at Bromley Common - but 1984 was the last time I was in Croyden town centre, Hawksmoor.
Back then it was just a scabbier version of Bromley's.

Never been back. Even throughout the exiled years at Portacabin Corner, it was avoided.
    Why, have I missed something?

If Beelzebub had abandoned hell, it would look like Croydon, Oggy. It makes Bromley look like Mayfair.
