Footballer Gary Madine arrested in arson inquiry

Former Carlisle United striker Gary Madine has been arrested over a suspected arson in Gateshead.

The 20-year-old, now with League One rivals Sheffield
Wednesday, was questioned by police over a fire at a property in Rutland
Square on 19 May.

So, lets get this right, a sparky striker with a number of matches under his belt, lost his fuse and now the police have put the heat on him.

No doubt his burning desire to play against us this season will be doused.

Grate news for us.

  • Alarming.
  • He is trouble. Not so long ago he was in a major fracas in Newcastle. What's the Chuck Berry song? ... Madine, why can't you be tgrue
  • Apparently, now given up smoking
  • Apparantly he was visiting an old flame who lived there
  • When arrested he was wearing a blazer, not a smoking jacket as first reported
  • Fired home a scorcher
  • I thought he blazed over?

    Just signed for Arsonal
  • A well dressed player with a slightly retro style to his clothing, he always wears a blazer and flares.
  • Was never gonna set the world alight.

  • Just the sort of player you want at a match.
  • Sizzling performance, red hot.
  • As long as he can fire home a few goals what's the problem?
  • Presumably, he'll get fired
  • Funny when you hear these rumours they sound hard to believe, but there's no smoke without fire I reckon

He'll now be forced to quit football, and play cricket for England v Australia.

    ;o)

  • Nah, he's already got the ashes in his pocket Oggy!
  • He said he had a burning desire as a striker to match the skills of his more flam(e)boyant colleagues as a tribute to the Sunderland radio station Spark FM.  Any more puns???

Still at least arson is a little more exciting than nicking toilet seats - eh Mr Johnson??
  • Nicking toilet seats is just an ordinary bog standard offence
  • Bit of red mist I assume.

    Care to enlighten us LA?
  • LA perhaps refers to Glenn Johnson
Although Mr Johnson says it was not a theft & he was not convicted
  • True he was not convicted because he opted to pay an on-the-spot fine rather than face prosecution so you can make up your own minds.
  • Thanks chaps - the mystery was driving me round the bend.

The glowing embers of Madine's career have finally been extinguished, unless he can get another trial somewhere.

He could ignite a new opportunity at Blackburned Rovers or Charred-ton Athletic
  • or Burnley?
  • or Black n Burned

    sorry, just spotted it
  • Do we still have club houses in Burnt Ash Lane?

If so, ideal for Madine, if we ever signed him.
  • Maybe a drop down to League Two to join Burnton is necessary?
