Are we all happy - or at least happier - now?

Three new signings in one day?

It would appear not. Which makes you wonder just what it would take for some people to actually be happy - a million pounds cash and a nosh from Rachel Riley?

Jeff Vetere must've used some old contacts at Real Madrid to get Xabi Alonso. There's just no pleasing some people.

Offy, i'm pretty pleased with all things Charlton at the min, normally we leave it till the last minute to scrape a couple of signings in, and when were crap its 'because we they didnt have a pre season together' which i think does help!! I think the board and Powelly are making the right noises and to be quite frank its very refreshing for me. So yeah all in all we should all be pretty pleased with proceedings today!

Still wouldn't mind a nosh from RR tho, that'd make me happier!!

Bit hard to say really. Glad Racon's gone though.

To be honest, I think it's a bit early to be happy or unhappy yet, as there's still a way to go until the start of the season, so there's still time for some brilliant surprise signings or some really depressing departures. Racon leaving is pretty much expected (even if going to Millwall wasn't) and the 3 new signings look like a good start, but I'll wait til I see the balance of the squad at the end of August before I decide whether my glass is half full or empty.

Half way through the off season and we've bought in a few players and are still chasing a few more. Would like to see a couple of centre backs arrive but there is still plenty of time before kick off.

Liking what I'm seeing so far.

A whole new spine in one afternoon, woo hoo!  Yes I'm happy, we need next season to be quite different from last.  I'm going to trust that these are they guys we need to make the change.  Good news :-)

I said I'm underwhelmed and I stand by it.

In theory all are ok signings for this level. I hope they are better than what we already have/what has moved on

The general feeling I have comes from the fact that I had allowed myself to believe that we might see someone a little left field come in as part of this process. All 3 of these signings have been pretty much open secrets for a week or so.

Maybe what happens in the next few weeks might raise my enthusiasm. But at the moment I just can't get over excited. If people don't like that so be it.

  • i think i am off it tbh, i think that Evina out of all 3 is the one i am most happy with, fits the mould for me, young energetic, has come from a good background in youth football terms,

Alonso gives us a feel to the midfield that we havent had before

Hayes i know nothing about but others are impressed if this is the start then i am happy if this is it then not

I'm happy. A striker who's played at this level and the championship, a left-back to cover an awkward position for us (seeing as we may not see Bessone and/or Youga again), and a central midfielder with La Liga and (some) Premier League experience. Don't see how anyone can really complain about those signings.

    Great news.
Who we want (and presumably can afford on our budget)
In nice and early so CP can work his magic
Definite ring of out with the underperforming old and in with the new.

    Whats not to like?

Well, with Llera supposed to be gone, strong rumour that Dailly won't be re-signing, and Fortune crocked UFN ....... then no doubt Powell has  centrebacks on his priority shopping list

Can't wait for the football season to start now! Was disappointed about Racon, but after the signings announced today, i am really optimistic about this season.

    COYR!

Agree, I'm pleased but know little about them. Just good to see we're getting some targets in before pre-season starts.

Hayes and Alonso might become important players. We didn't replace Burton last season, Hayes is supposed to be that type of player. The midfield hasn't been convincing for a while now, Alonso is hopefully just what we need.

Will be interesting to see Evina. We've had a few players here in recent years that haven't had the brain or attitude to actually make use of their pace.
  • I can't say I know anything about any of them - I have seen some stats but haven't watched them personally.  I am happy we have signed 3 players, I am hopeful they are the right ones.  I am hopeful there will be more to follow.

However, I was happy about our signings last year and remember being really excited about Abbott, McCormack & Francis because I read people saying great things about them so we shall just have to wait and see I guess!

Always good to see some early signings........
I have no idea of these guys, besides the reports , so like all Charlton players I wish them well.
But as a 'half empty' type we shall have to wait and see!

HAPPY.  these 3 all sound like like they will connect up well with each other and become a new solid back bone for the team to build on and move forward.

As decent as these signings are, I still think there will be even better to come. Even without further departures, we still need another 5/6 players imo.
  • Can't remember the last time we got 3 new players in a day !!!

Hopeful that this is the start of something good

Still would like a RB, RW and at least 3 CBs though
    ..... never happy are we

Happy with the 3 signings today
    Happy with sullivan signing
Happy were buying in June and not leaving it until last minute
Happy racon is off the wage bill
And i know Powell isn't going to start the new season with the centre backs we currently have so I only see more coming in including loans so I'm HAPPY
