Whilst a vast improvement on Les Reed it's still not exactly form that is going to keep us up. After Man Utd we need 6 wins from 11 games

    5 wins / 5 draws/ 1 defeat = 40pts final total (enough?)
    WHU (h) 1pt
    Watford (a) 3pts
    Newcastle (h) 3pts
    Wigan (h) 3 pts
    Man City (a) 1 pt
    Reading (h) 1pt
    Everton (a) 1pt
    Sheff Utd (h) 3pts
    Blackburn (a) 1pt
    Spurs (h) 3pts
    Liverpool (a) 0pts

Looks feasible - I did something similar on BBC predictor and had us on 37 pts but still surviving - much will depend on what looks like a tougher run-in for Wet Spam & SheffU.

it just emphasises how big the Wham game is. A win there will give more than just three points, the confidence we could gain from it you could not measure.

If we win that, it is not entirely unfeasible we win 4 on the trot, that would give us 32 points with 7 games left. The important thing for me is getting us into a position where the other teams don't want to play us, rather than seeing it as a good opportunity for them to pick up three points.

There is loads of football left in this season.

Looking at that table only Blackburn have done better than us - beat West Ham + win some of the other games after and we have a fight - the only problem I can see is if it's a high points total at the end if West Ham or Wigan turn it around as we are runing out of games

It would certainly give us huge momentum if we were to beat Wham but, while we must play to win it, I think is a "no lose" rather than a "must win" match from the point of view of survival prospects, particularly if 37pts might be enough; an average of 2pts per game from 6 home games and 1pt per game from 5 away games. Definitely doable if Dazza's back and fully fit.

The good news is we've made up 4, 5 and 6 points on Watford, Wigan and WHU respectively. The not so good news is we've only made up 1 on Sheff U. It's all relative from now on...not just what we do, but how much better we do than them.

I still think we can drag Sheff Utd back into the relegation mix. They haven't exactly got easy games coming up. I just hope our confidence isn't dented too much after Man Yoo.

I dont think that we'll need 40 pts this season. Looks more like 37 or even possibly 35

if the bottom four keep the same form we are home and dry.
