Today's moral dilemma

Regarding the takeover of the Liverpool err franchise, there has been some talk that the new stadium the scallies are building will have a corporate name.

What are the views of the panel if we woke up one morning to a press announcement that the Valley was acquiring a corporate sponsor and becoming say the "Adidas Valley"?

Would this be an unavoidable step in globalisation of football and a necessary, though regrettable step in order to keep up with our footballing peers, would it be over our collective dead bodies, or would you shrug your shoulders and still call the place "The Valley" regardless of the marketing people?

Comments

  • If it meant £50m quid to the club take it.

As long as the Valley stayed inthe name
  • So long as it was still the something Valley then if it was a good deal I wouldn't object - eg Sun Valley

What I would hate would be a total sell-out and loss of the Valley name - eg. the Reebok Stadium - total sell out.
  • if someone wants to pay $$$$, who gives a sh1t what they officially call it?

it will allways be called the Valley, we'll always refer to it as the Valley!

exactly, most of the big sponsorship deals have happened when clubs have moved grounds rather than stayed at the current one.
