The last 3 draws for which I've bought tickets have apparently attracted 350 to 500 ticket sales - according to the Rafall results pages. If the '2nd prize' winner receives £100 - the '1st prize winner' receives "50% of the ticket sales (up to £2k) and '50% of the proceeds goes to VG' - how much is the winner winning and how much is VG receiving? If Rafall make a slice too, I'm not sure my few quid punted on the draw can be helping VG much at all.
I think a cashless valley is the reason ticket sales have dropped. It was always the case where you’d go through turnstiles and there’d be a rep calling out ‘jackpot tickets’ so you’d delve into your pockets and get rid of your change. I’d be surprised if any of the matches have had a valley gold jackpot ticket draw first prize of over £200 since it went online only. Apart from Xmas specials or similar promotions.

Ticket sales have dropped quite a bit since we went online. We can't do inside the ground as we used to due to the cashless Valley policy.
But we do still make a profit, which makes it worth doing. Over the time we've done it we probably average 450-500 sales, so even if we only make £100 from that, it's still £2k+ we'd not be making otherwise. If we stopped we'd need another 20 members to cover that.
And obviously the more people who buy tickets the more VG would make. If we sold all 2000, someone would win a grand every game, and we'd probably be making nearer £20k a year. So don't stop!
Why can’t cash still be done on matchdays in the ground @rikofold ?
Club policy. Everything is now cashless inside the ground.
We did explore having handheld card readers, but cost prohibitive and we can only take debit cards due to gambling legislation. Besides, not the same as dropping a loose quid into the bucket is it.

Except it’s not mate. Programme stalls still sell programmes for cash inside the ground. Absolutely no reason why jackpot tickets can’t be sold for cash.

Is that true? We were told only outside the ground. Trust me, if we were allowed to take cash we'd be back quicker than you can say "that Rifkind's a clever chap isn't he."

I spoke with Sharron this morning. What I've said is correct, but what you've observed re the programme sellers is also true (believe this has changed this season). The policy still applies to us at the moment though.
It's a slightly more complex situation than it sounds. As a result of the cashless policy, the club no longer handle cash as they used to and as they used to handle the jackpot cash for us including secure bank delivery there's a logistical challenge there. We'd not be asking Sharron to shift several hundred quid down to the bank, for example. (The programme sellers are outsourced and handle cash themselves).
Feel like I should know this, but is VG a registered charity @rikofold? Couldn’t see anything on the website to confirm this. Been out of the financial sector for a year now, but I’m sure there were card reader providers doing good deals for some of our charity clients.
