Car Insurance - is a con

I work in the industry (underwriting) and am always having this argument with my colleagues..

Why don't you get no claims discount on a second car, if you are the only driver? You also can't get no claims protection..

Comments

  • Funny you should mention this Razil, my renewal for my S3 has come through today (Kwik Fit). Now although I have a protected No Claims I did have a minor shunt a couple of months ago. My renewal has gone up about £100. They have already offered to shop around for me and have got it down to £650 now.

Thing is even with Fully Comp you are basically making yourself just legal to drive & not a lot else to be honest. I am still smarting from paying the £550 Excess on my recent claim.

BTW I thought one of the Companies are offering no claims on the second car (Seen it on TV) is it More Than ?

  • Not a bad motor that one, classic. Mine is Marginally quicker both 0-60 & Top end. It's the Audi S3.
  • ha ha, yeah I figured.. not a fan myself but the missus TT aint bad.
  • Audi's all the way.

    S4's better though :)

Save yourself mate change your insurance company. Mate at work just had his parked car mashed by a nob-ed lorry and they said they would take it away and give him a courtesy car. They turned up an took it and told him that he cant have a courtesy car until his motor has been assessed. this was Friday morning. 30 odd phone calls later he got a car Tuesday only to find that the motor they had given him had a completely bald tyre on the front (yes this is quick fit the tyre specialists). He also said that all the people he spoke to on the phone made it sound like the smash up was his fault and were very rude.

RS6's wipe the floor with all of you.... saw one of them up the a**e of a Ferrari on the A14 a couple of years ago - the Ferrari just couldnt shake it... and to make matters worse, the RS6 was the estate car!!
  • OK Cheers Razil will give em a go as have nothing to lose !

Medders, my car is for Cruzin in not racing fella! :-)
  • B'locks to that Ketman... 225bhp aint for cruising. If you want cruising go buy an Escort Cabriolet...

    ;-)
  • OK I gave it a bit this weekend, some twat in one of those Honda Civic R Sporty thing's drove right up my arse. I accelerated away from him when I went past 100mph, was doing 130mph over the Medway Bridge. Thing is a car in front of me was actually getting FURTHER away from me, I eventually caught up with it, it was a Subaru imprezza with the Gold Wheels, he must of been doing about 150mph at least.
  • bhp dont mean much, pwr is all..
  • think you will find that they are one in the same engine wise, but the RS6 is just bigger. The RS4 is a saloon and does 0-62 in 4.6 seconds. I know about cars dood. RS6 is some machine thoi, and from 30-100 mph can keep up with most super cars including crap farraris

    They the nuts
  • he he, yeah was just blagging, power to weight ratio I meant??

    :)

Fair comment mate. The RS6 does 0-62 in 4.5 seconds.... ;-) Best thing about it is it's an estate - no Porsche or Ferrari driver is ever going to expect it to do what it does....

  • medders, i see, i looked up stats for the normal RS6, not avant. I stand corrected. Anyhow all them RS4 RS6 avant all amazing bhp and 0-60 for your money. The avant is what me and the Mrs want as a family car when we grow up! fantastic motor

I'm well aware that the RS4 is a better car, I just couldn't afford one, gotta be happy with what i've got! :)

Love the fact that it's an Avant / estate, it's understated, everyone thinks it's a family car and don't give it a second look, then they wonder how i'm pulling ahead so quickly. (not that I'm a boy racer) Interior is stunning and cost well under 10k, Happy days.

(btw, both the RS4 & RS6 come in Avant or Saloon)

Avant is the only way mate! Think they were about £50k new.... twin turbo mental thing...

    The perfect 'family' car!
  • reserves what ya got, an S4?? which one, the twin turbs or V8???

yeah medders, 50k alot of car for ya doe. I love Audi's fantastic cars
  • If you're thinking about using the S4/RS4 Avant as a family car check the inside space first.

There's not much room in the back and some people have struggled getting car seats in believe it or not.

The RS6 is perfect family car I reckon... one day (not sure if I mean a family or a car?)

    Ditto mate. Nice motors.

A bloke in Chatham owns one. Always give a finger when I drive past his gated house. Lucky barsteward.

Yea, the S4 Avant, bi Turbo. 10k is all I had, not sure the V8 is worth the extra 10k anyways.

I love it, a few tweaks and it's a dream, well actually it's only a car, but you know what I mean.

  • nice work reserves, nice work. i like that, wouldnt grumble at one of those for sure.
  • Just done that Confused.com thingy & the cheapest one is £200 Cheaper than my renewal. Think I may ring up my current Insurer & inform them of this only to be mysteriously made a similar offer, or should I just tell the theiving bastards to poke it?
