  • Not sure if it's already been posted on here but it looks like he's gone on loan to Colchester.

We must be very close to signing someone (maybe two?) if we've allowed Smith to go out on loan.

Smith was essentially our second striker. Good news as at least two must be coming in.

Church as a minimum by Saturday. There was a rumour that Blackpool are interested in Fuller so that will at least delay if not completely sink a move for him.

We have to have a player lined up. That is ridiculous if we haven't. 1 first team striker and we loan out the only other one with any league experience.

And relax... in Powell we trust.

    Dons complete Smith loan deal
AFC Wimbledon have completed the signing of Charlton striker Michael Smith on loan until January.

Ultimate insult from Sky. Not only have they got a different Michael Smith pictured on their website, they've also got a thumbnail of the MK Dons badge!

    LOL! Classic.

Actually, I'm disappointed Smith has gone out on loan again. The lad has clearly got potential and done well wherever he has been out on loan. And unless we give him a chance, we'll never know if he can hack it at this level.

Is Church fit enough for a league game Sat?

Powell says he's a long way behind the fitness of the rest of the squad.

Don't see why people are thinking that just because Smith has gone on loan that we are close to a signing. Don't think SCP had any intention of playing Smith regardless of our current striker status. I do think Church will sign but I doubt this is a case of one in one out.

Current striker status could possibly be zero at any time. Smith knows how to score goals and I don't think we are in any position to be picky. If he's gone and we genuinely have nobody else lined up then that's bloody moronic!

Presumably there'll be a call-back clause if CP feels he needs him.

Yes, the Michael Smith in the photo is a defender who plays for Bristol Rovers!

dropping down the divisions does young players no good at all .. the 'experience' they get is how to kick and rush, chase after misplaced passes and to compete at head tennis .. if Powell doesn't fancy Smith ... and it seems he doesn't ... sell him and use the few quid + wages saved to bring in somebody else

Getting some league 2 experience might come in handy in the future. :-(

do I detect signs of surrender here? .. meaning we'll soon be back in the basement? .. or that Smiffy is only a basement standard striker? .. this year m'dear .. we are going UP UP UP !!!!

Was suprised he didnt feature in many of the pre-season games, being an un-used sub mostly. Does Powell see him as a player with a future at the club?

Doesn't look like it. Suspect this means Smith has no future at the Club. Great shame.

It also highlights the difficulty of deciding on contract length. Smith was signed on a three year deal which I assume the Club now regrets.

Hope AFC are making a contribution to his wages, but even if they are Smith will no doubt represent a drain on the Club's cash flow until he leaves, inevitably, next summer.
