Eddie Youds top player top bloke.
  • His finest hour in a Charlton shirt was the 0-0 at Highbury in 1998, when he was magnificent against Bergkamp and Anelka.

Real old school centre back, who wasn't adverse to a bit of the rough stuff, as I am sure Pierre Van Hoojdonk would agree with!

I'm definitely getting my flat valued then, wasn't sure if he'd come as think he's the manager there. Thought it might be weird to demand they sent him, especially when he sees the shrine to him under the stairs.

On a stag do in Liverpool I met his dad weirdly. The same weekend we shared a table seat with 2 girls from the only way is Essex

Now before anyone asks because I asked this too 'how did you identify him as Eddie youds' father

He was speaking to a couple of my mates who were at the bar and given our accents he asked who supported who, my mate who whilst being an old school chelsea fan and generally very knowledgeable about the beautiful game told him who supported who and he asked if anyone was a charlton fan. My pal then pointed me out, Eddies dad came over and said hello and showed me his driving licence and waited for a reaction. Lovely guy and very funny also.

Eddies Dad was in the pub before the game at Blackburn in 98/99, it was a freezing cold day and it seemed to be colder inside the pub than out! The barman, who was a real Coronation Street type, asked if we were up for t'football. Youds Snr replied "Why else would you go to f***ing Blackburn!" Seemed a good fella, like everyone says about Eddie, apart from maybe Denis Bergkamp.
  • Met Youds a couple of times, I have his 2000 White Redbus top, although sadly not matchworn as he never got to play for us again after his terrible injury at Huddersfield.
Often would see him in the South spoons.
