  • So the first round fuck-ups in the east are not the Leafs, for once, and the Bruins have crashed out vs Florida. That opens the field a bit.

What with Seattle beating Colorado the Leafs are now the bookies favourites, which scares the hell out of me! Edmonton second favourites.

Looks like you were right to be scared. This bit of Hubris from the Leafs fans hasn't aged well

  • Indeed, we're making giving Millwall a run for their money in the bottling stakes.

    Infuriating hockey team.
  • There really is no need for 7 playoff games.
  • Anyone else tuning in for Stanley Cup final game 1?

    C’mon you Oil!

I’d like to see the Oilers win, but I fear Florida are just too good at shutting down teams, and have more depth on offense.
  • Losing 2-0 so far but have been the better team and leading in shots 18 to 9 so there's a way back into this game for them yet. We were told Dallas' depth would be too much, but turned out the Oilers' depth players performed better than Dallas'. The Oilers go much deeper than they are given credit for, it's not all about McDavid and Draisaitl, but what a pair of weapons to have. Florida slight favourites, but the two teams have almost identical records this season, if you take oit the anomaly of that losing run the Oilers had at the start of the season. It'll be a close fought 6 or 7 game series, imo. Not sure I can call which way it'll go.
  • I know interest in the NHL is limited on here, but if you have a passing interest - it's game 7 of the Stanley Cup final tonight (1:20 am UK time for any night owls).

The series is finely poised at 3-3 as the Oilers aim to be only the second team ever, and the first since 1942, to come back from 3-0 to win a final 4-3 and seal a 6th cup and first for over 30 years, while the Panthers try to avoid the ignominy of a reverse sweep and win their first ever cup. It should be a belter.

Been in Canada for last 3 weeks and Oilers have made a great comeback to 3-3.

Even comeback from being 1 down tonight, currently 1-1 in 2nd period

  • Gutted. One bridge too far.
  • I’m delighted for the panthers. They built this team well over the past 7:8 years. The trade with Calgary helped. Well done Florida
  • Gutted for the Oilers but happy for their fan who’s done very well out of whipping her bristols out at a game.
  • Thought the oilers were unlucky not to win as they had a good 3rd period with a couple of good chances
  • lived here for 4 years now and I just cannot get into NHL. Far too many games.
