Hi chaps,
I know that there is a great pool of help available here on CL so here goes.

My Dell Inspiron 6400 laptop won't accept a charge. I have renewed the battery and charger but even when the laptop is plugged into the mains it is without power. I presume it will be the laptops power connection at fault but what do I know.

Any help or advice re problem or a reliable and hopefully cheap repairer would be hugely appreciated. I have been quoted £90 by a repair shop but I thought this a bit expensive or am I just a cheapskate ?

Many thanks

Does the screen not come on? Sounds more like the discombobulator to me?

I doubt it Plaaayer. I had a new discombobulator not too long ago.

Give Dr Emmett "Doc" Brown a call, he'd sort it for you :-)

could be something simple like a bad connection from the power supply to the motherboard or could be the board itself.

With the fee it depends on how much you want to keep the laptop £90 is fine if your looking at keeping it for another year although you can buy decent laptops around £300 now.

I know a repairer who specialises in Dell laptops if you want the job done properly, send me a private message. He works for Dell covering Kent and SE London and fits in private work between Dell jobs.
