Went with my Pompey supporting mates last night, great support from the blue army. Palace support was non existent.

It was probably one of the worse games of football I've witnessed, how they're 4th in the league is beyond me. Pompey were comfortably the better side.

In the 87th minute my mates mate who is Charlton to the core streaked across the pitch. Was rather amusing.

Maybe amusing for you but not for the players. With some recent high profile pitch invasions by violent "fans" players may well feel vunerable and scared by such actions. They'd have every right in my opinon to give your pal a good kicking.

    You crazy kids............
  • Wasn't my pal, and they did give him a kicking. Why it was amusing, cause from what I saw the bloke was a complete berk and it was proven when he pitch invaded. You could tell he wouldn't of attacked anyone, he got his just deserts.

No one was hurt. It was the only highlight of the game.

They couldn't have given him a kicking as no one was sent off in that match last night.

If they were league one they'd still be a poor outfit.

taking the serious point out of charlton hero's post, i think if we do get promoted we have a real chance of doing well again next season.

we have a young developing squad and from what ive seen of championship football this season it really isnt any better than league 1 to be honest.

  • Thanks valley gary. The main point was the standard of football and also the superb support from Pompey.

Reckon we have a good shot next year, if we get promoted.

Just goes to show that, despite being the lowest placed team in SE London, we have the better support.

I'm sure cliveg would have come out with a wittier comment (and it wouldn't have been the first time he come out either). ;-)
  • I went to West Ham v Bristol City last night. West Ham were very poor, no real quality and lots of Allardyce long balls. Fans got very frustrated with it and got on the back of their team more quickly than we do. Again nothing to frighten us if we did manage to get into the Championship.

Great travelling support from Bristol. Must have been over 3000 and clearly outsung the hammers.

  • I don't know whats happening with Pompeys support. On the local radio today they said tickets for the Saints game at Fratton Park are on general sale.

I'm not sure what the ground holds but it seems poor for them.

Bristol City had quality away support when we came down from Prem, filled the Jimmy Seed and even launched a flare for good measure

I went to Arsenal last night and the atmosphere from the home support was embarrasing, thank heavens for the Marseille support, I know we are not the loudest but it really was appauling, the bloke next to me said, "what do you expect watching this rubbish week in week out", on the back of six wins out of seven and watching a champions league tie! In the end my son and I concentrated on Carl Jenkinson and Diawama who I recall was one of two dozen or so clones that turned out for us in the Dowie years...... The sage alongside me then said "I feel sorry for that Jenkinson really, he only played three times for Charlton in league 2 and then they loaned him out to a non league side before we bought him"........the things you learn at football

I agree the atmosphere at Arsenal is shocking. You could hear a pin drop at times in their.

I do have good memories of the Emirates though as I went to Brazil Vs Argentina and the atmosphere was electric due to the lack of arsenal fans.
