Doesn't matter. The basic point is that, when the slower runner has a head start, it takes the faster runner some time to make up the difference ... by which time the slower runner has moved on a bit. And so on, and so on.

Not much ... and it gets progressively less and less. But a bit nonetheless, so the faster runner never catches up.
