26 years ago - my God. Went to all of those Cup games and we had great turn outs for all the away ties. Hales scored in every round up until the Ippo tie. That Ipswich team were something special that season and most of that team played a significant number of all their games.

I remember Millwall waiting for us at Liverpool Street when we came back from Ippo.
Hard to believe it's that long ago, but we certainly made a lot of noise. Was a good laugh at Harlow as well, although I seem to remember a few Spuds fans turning up and trying to cause havoc in the car park.

Remember there being some trouble in a bar with Spurs at Harlow.
  • any chance some clever tekkie can post the highlights from MOTD ??
  • The away sections were absolutely packed and as I was about 5'4" at the time, I hardly saw a thing.
    Great atmosphere though!
  • Happy Valentines.....
  • That game and the Spurs tie at WHL were the most rammed-in crowds I was ever in. Ipswich were one of the best teams in the country at the time, we did alright without worrying them too much. Clearly remember Terry Naylor trying to pull Mariners shirt off him as he went through for the second goal. Also the Johnny Wank chant at John Wark, although that didn't stop him scoring the first:-)
