Having a discussion with a friend, we think maybe BWP, Semedo or Prutton or even Alonso. Really not sure tho, anyone got any ideas?

On the other thread from Powell at the CASC it states that Semedo got a 10-12k contract with Wednesday. So i will go for him

I think it's Neil Mellor, something like £12k a week at PNE
  • Ched Evans or someone else who came down with Sheff utd and is still on big wages.
    That's the winner.

    20-25k a week!

silly question maybe but are players wages published or accessible anywhere or is it all speculation? Not having a dig at anybody but the Semdedo £10 -12K thing is considerably different to the £6k talked about in the summer and affects all the speculative calculations about our level of investment in the summer which i felt was far higher than was being summised by some on here. How else do you seem to manage to secure virtually every target you go for, particularly if they are highly rated? It doesn't matter obviously and it's none of my business and i like the way they went about things in the summer but it only adds to the feeling that the new regime are serious players and wea re going places.

There's a spreadsheet with all the wages and bonues but that's it.  Only the board and maybe the manager will see that.

The rest is, at best, informed speculation based on what shareholders were told at AGMs/EGMs and other fans at Q + A sessions.  I doubt we'll even get that level of information now.

I am astounded that there are players on that kind of money inthe Championship let alone League 1.

Much as I would like to believe that players like Green "once I heard Charlton were interested...." are here for love, I think we must be paying top dollar generally

Haha that's nothing to what he would have been on had we kept him!  His deal with us went up massively each year.  Our chairman, when he first took over after the munto debacle said that the money he would have been on in years 3,4 and 5 of his contract could only have been afforded by a very few prem clubs!  I think it was only (only!) around 12 k for the year he was actually with us.

We also had to pay him image rights when his contract was cancelled.  Image rights for a league 2 player?!  Staggering.

And that is the case for all off League 1. Good Lord! You are so well informed.
  • A good friend of mine is a Sheff Utd fan and he says they are financially on their arse so can't see him earning more than Jose if he's banking the wage quoted earlier.
    James Beattie... FACT

A Blade mate of mine says Evans and at least two others will go in the window as they're not affordable to the club any more.
  • I highly doubt Evans will be going anywhere what with the charge hanging over him. Not permanently anyway

Evans could well be going down soon!

I remember Tony Cottee and Gaza both breaking the transfer record in 88.  It was later reported that Cottee's transfer price included the tax, whilst Cottee's didn't.  This in same ways is part of the confusion on wages.  Basic wage, appearance fee, goals bonus, promotion bonus etc....  Then the employer has to pay uncapped NI from their side.  When you take all this in to account it means that denials and figures quoted often can be explained by the varied aspects.

If you want to find averages around the time of ITV Digital's collapse they printed averages and in league one at that time it was around 50 grand.

Don't Charlton have a ceiling on wages?

But I wouldn't mind betting that it's the signing-on fee that helps a player to enthusiastically sign!
