Danny Green Suspended Against Orient

edited December 2011 in General Charlton
Shame, as he was fantastic today!
Easily the best player on the pitch!

Big blow but Waggy was superb against Orient last year at their place and may feel he has a point to prove having not played too much recently.
  • Options
That may be the case today, but to be honest, I think that he has been poor all season.
  • Options
Apparently Waggy is injured, that's why he wasn't on the bench today.

Maybe Ephraim on the right and Jackson on the left, not sure how well he is progressing from his injury.

Progressing well, he reckoned a week of two and he would be back. That was last week, so you never know....though I don't want him to be rushed back to then suffer the problem again.

We have a good squad and Danny's misfortune is someone else's chance to stake a claim.
  • Options
There's always Pritchard and Bover and Harriott and Evina. Hopefully Waggy is fit.
  • Options
Yes. I think the squad is good enough to cover for this. Waggy back? Ephraim on the right? JJ back?

If not Evina on the left, Ephraim on the right or bring back Hughes and put Russell on the right.

JJ is back in full training but is more likely to start on the bench - would be nice if Bover or Harriott could be given a shot if both Green and Waggy are unavailable.

ephraim left, pritch right- looks much more balanced

Pritchard for me. Deserves a go for his performance v Carlisle in the cup.

SCP says on the OS he thinks Waggy will be fit enough for Orient.

  • Options
If fit Pritchard in for Green, Waggy on bench.

Is that our first suspension of the season?

In any case we have a big squad, Waggy starts - and he was excellent last season at Orient.

It has to be Waggy. If unfit, then Pritch.

We do still want Waggy at the club!

I do but some seem convinced he's off in January.

No, it's our second -and Danny Green's second too, as it happens - Green was suspended at the beginning of the season for a red card when playing for Dagenham last year.
(Actually, if you include the boss, it's our third - Chris Powell was in the stands earlier in the season for, I think, 2 or 3 games?)

Danny was unlucky today. He was fouled all first half and the ref let everything go. Danny then did two fouls inside a couple of minutes and got booked. If they had been ten minutes apart he probably wouldn't have got booked. Ah well, it's only one game, gives Waggy a chance to impress, and at least Danny will be fresh for Brentford.

Going on the assumption of Wagstaff being injured  for the O's match, I'd personally go for a midfield of:

Ephraim (rm)  Hughes (cm)   Russell (cm)   Hollands (Lm).
  • Options
looks weak that. Think Wagstaff or Jackson will play.
  • Options
Playing Waggy will have the least impact on the shape of the side. Agree Pritchard deserves a chance but he is more a central midfielder.

    Is that so!
  • Options
Waggy if fit, if not Pritchard should do a decent job at RM.

    Agree with this 'cept

    Ephraim, Hollands, Hughes, Russell

But hopefully Jacko will be back, although don't forget Jacko will have had no game time in a number of weeks

Last thing we need is Jacko to have a recurrance of the hammy, so play it safe I'd say.

Yes, I can't see him being rushed back - a few sub appearances to ease him in I suspect. Fulham may be his first starting game. Whatever team Powell puts out, I'll back as he clearly knows what he is doing.

Absolutely not.  No point in taking lots of players out of position.  We'd be better playing specialist wide men - we've got Evina, Harriott, Bover, Pritch all in the squad.
