Dropped Points

edited December 2011 in General Charlton
Thought it would be interesting to compare how many points the top five teams have lost from winning/drawing positions over the course of the season now that we've reached the halfway stage. To do this, I'll take the most favourable position each was in during each specific game and look at the difference between that and the final result.

Charlton Athletic: 7 points dropped, 51 points on the board -> 51/58 = 12%
--2. Scunthorpe; 2-0 -> 2-2
--4. Wednesday; 1-0 -> 1-1
--5. Stevenage; 0-0 -> 0-1
--7. Oldham; 1-0 -> 1-1

Sheffield United: 12 points dropped, 44 points on the board -> 44/56 = 21%
--2. Tranmere; 1-0 -> 1-1
--3. Huddersfield; 0-0 -> 0-3
--4. Wycombe; 0-0 -> 0-1
--5. Charlton; 0-0 -> 0-2
--7. Wednesday; 2-0 -> 2-2
--9. Leyton Orient; 1-0 -> 1-1
--11. Exeter City; 4-3 -> 4-4
--12. Stevenage; 1-1 -> 1-2

Sheffield Wednesday: 11 points dropped, 43 points on the board -> 43/54 = 20%
--1. Bournemouth; 0-0 -> 0-2
--2. Bury; 0-0 -> 1-2
--3. Stevenage; 0-0 -> 1-5
--6. Carlisle; 1-0 -> 2-3
--8. Huddersfield; 4-2 -> 4-4
--11. Walsall; 1-0 -> 1-2

MK Dons: 8 points dropped, 42 points on the board -> 42/50 = 16%
--1. Wednesday; 0-0 -> 1-3
--3. Charlton; 1-0 -> 1-1
--4. Oldham; 0-0 -> 1-2
--6. Bournemouth; 1-0 -> 2-2
--7. Sheff Utd; 0-0 -> 1-2
--8. Preston; 0-0 -> 0-1

Huddersfield: 16 points dropped, 42 points on the board -> 42/58 = 28%
--2. Bury; 1-0 -> 1-1
--4. Rochdale; 2-1 -> 2-2
--6. MK Dons; 1-0 -> 1-1
--8. Leyton Orient; 2-0 -> 2-2
--10. Scunthorpe; 2-1 -> 2-2
--12. Walsall; 1-0 -> 1-1
--13. Charlton; 0-0 -> 0-2
--14. Bournemouth; 0-0 -> 0-1
--16. Wednesday; 2-0 -> 4-4

In summary, don't fall behind to Charlton or MK Dons because there isn't much chance of you getting anything out of the game from that point onwards. With Huddersfield however, you might nick something if you keep plugging away in the last 15 minutes of a game.
