Will Stephens be fit?0

What I would like to see is a strongish side but with the tough schedule over xmas and the two Sheffield matches coming up feel SCP might go with something a little bit weaker like this in a 4-5-1 formation:-
Sullivan
Solly Cort Morrison Wiggins
Wagstaff Euell Hughes Pritchard Green
Hayes
So before anyone says rubbish I repeat it's not my choice but a stab at what SCP might do.

If he does do the above (which I doubt) He'll put Kermorgant up front instead of Hayes.0
-
The last thing CP will want is a replay. No way will we go there with 5 in midfield and try to contain them.
Expect Evina to be involved as well as Hughes.0 -

Maybe replace Euell with Hollands and Hayes with Kerm

Having thought ever since the draw against a prem side was made that we should start our best XI, I think I've now completely changed my mind.
The two Shef sides are closer to us than they deserve to be, and as we all know we have to play 'em both straight after Fulham.
One aim.
And if that means the squad players like Waggy, Euell, Hayes, Clarke, Evina, Hughes, Pritchard, Cort and Bover come in at Craven Cottage because Powell wants to protect/rest/spare other key individuals, then I'm perfectly happy to go along with that.

I'd be happy if Chrissy rested a few but I think a lot of the 7k who have paid good money for tickets might not be.

sorry, I can't go for this at all. It'll mean that come Saturday week, according to your 'policy' , the bulk of the 1st team will not have played for nearly two weeks. Players keep fit, in tune and motivated by playing, not by sitting in the stands watching, or going shopping with the Mrs, playing golf or whatever bored professional footballers do during their already too long spells of downtime.

I think it'll beSullivanSolly Morrison Taylor WigginsGreen Hollands Hughes JacksonBWP KermorgantThe only reasons I say Hughes instead of Pritchard as he may add experience to the side in a 'big' match and he is a better defender than Pritchard and we may be under the cosh at times so it'll pay off to have Hughes there.0

Gardening? On the other side of the coin they need to be fighting fit for the Sheffield games and it gives the likes of BWP, Yann, Jacko and Taylor extra recovery time and prevents these or other key players of SCP's chosing from getting injured.Having thought ever since the draw against a prem side was made that we should start our best XI, I think I've now completely changed my mind.

mmmm... I refer m'learned friend to the argument outlined above .. with the caveat that any player who is not near 100% fit (or as close as can be at this stage of the proceedings) should NOT be selected

Good experience for Pritchard though - i'd play him as I think he has a great future nad a game like this would benefit him.

Exactement. You;ve bought a tkt to watch whatever side Powell feels is in CAFC's best interests in the context of the season's ultimate objective. An FA Cup run would be a luxury. Nothing more.
Lincs reckons : ''Players keep fit, in tune and motivated by playing, not by sitting in
the stands watching, or going shopping with the Mrs, playing golf or
whatever bored professional footballers do during their already too long
spells of downtime.''
A good argument against a prolonged Euro-style mid-season break. Not an argument against resting those with fitness or stamina issues for one match in a competition we cannot win.

If Millwall can get to Wemberley .. then why oh why can't weeeeee ... (Or was it Cardiff ?)they need to be fighting fit for the Sheffield games and it gives the likes of BWP, Yann, Jacko and Taylor extra recovery time and prevents these or other key players of SCP's chosing from getting injured.

If anybody is nursing a knock, I'm sure Chrissy won't play them. I don't have the information as to whether any of our players are doing so. We knew Stephen's was playing through an injury after the event.

This - plus I saw no tiredness after the O's game against the Bees yesterday, think the first team will really want it and be up for it, and great prep for the Wednesday game....but in SCP I trust,Having thought ever since the draw against a prem side was made that we should start our best XI, I think I've now completely changed my mind.

What issues? was expecting this yesterday, but didn't happen - it starting to appear with 2 late goals in the last 3 games, and it was Orient who looked knackered in the 90th minute not usthey need to be fighting fit for the Sheffield games and it gives the likes of BWP, Yann, Jacko and Taylor extra recovery time and prevents these or other key players of SCP's chosing from getting injured.

What issues?
All the little niggles that you and me and everyone else without privileged access to the treatment room knows little or nothing about!
0 -
It was only £15 a ticket. They should pay £20 up at Hillsborough the following week if they want to see the first team!0
-
It's quite sad really. I remember as a kid being so excited about the cup but no matter how hard I try I can't rise above indifference nowadays.

sorry not being pedantic, but you stated fitness and stamina, not niggles - of which I would agree with :-)

Why does a 4-5-1 formation mean you are playing for a draw? All the modern coaches will tell you it's a 4-3-3 when you are attacking. Where's Dave Rudd when you need him?
Expect Evina to be involved as well as Hughes.

CP has said on the OS that he wants a FA Cup run, I reckon he will choose a squad of his best fittest players who he thinks have a chance of winning, what he won't do is play youth or reserve players so as to rest fit players. I guess it's 7 subs so an 18 man squad? If the complete squad, except Stephens is fit and Ephraim and Russell not available, I would pick
Hamer
Solly. Morrison. Taylor. Wiggins
Green. Hollands. Hughes. Jackson
Kermorgant, WP
Sullivan, Cort, Evina, Hughes, Pritchard, Euell, Hayes0
