  • Anywhere I can just get a mass produced fizzy lager with a top?
  • You can get that anywhere - just, when you ask for the 'top', do it descreetly! :)

I live in York mate so know exactly what you mean so I know how to play it :)
Don't spose you know if there's any vegetarian cuisine in the away end? I know, a veggie lager top drinker - only the Lord knows how I survive up North!
  • Jesus!!!! :)

I honestly don't know of the catering arrangements for such dietary special needs!!
  • Special needs? Easy fella ;) will just have to make a spicy bean n tofu wrap and stick it in my pocket.

Seasoned, looking at your tram map (thanks), it appears only a blue tram is required from Sheffield Train Station, but I was under the impression we had to then get a yellow. Presumably, that was if we were going to Leppings Lane. However, if we're getting off at Bamforth Street, we just need the blue.
I'm sure that is correct, isn't it ?
  • Oo!! Will you fetch me one of those too?!! :)
Actually there's a bit of a hoo-ha about the catering at the ground this season. A company called Lindleys has got the contract and there have been many complaints, to the point where the supporters trust is having meetings with the club about it. Poor quality, atrocious service and really expensive - compared to last season. So yes, you would be better doing your own concoction!
  • Covered End, you are indeed correct. The blue line turns left just before it goes on up the hill past the park and on to the ground and Leppings Lane.
So yes, just stay on the blue line until Bamforth Street.

Lindleys had the catering contract at The Valley in the 1990s.

  • Actually, if any of your lot are a bit peckish pre match there is a great chippy, at your end of the ground too. Four Lanes Chippy its called. Quality fish and chips at a very decent price!!
If you were coming OUT of the away end, just turn left and its on the other side of the road. 70 yards max.
  • Seasonedowl is such a good chap they deserve to go up !
  • :) Youre welcome Ooh Aah.
  • Does this chippy do a greasy chip butty? I hear they're popular around Hillsborough.
  • From a place they call sheffield

SeasonedOwl is the tram station in the City Centre obvious (the one which you need to change over onto a yellow tram)
  • It depends which part of the City Centre you are. But they have the destination place names on the front. So, any that say Malin Bridge (Blue line) or Middlewood (Yellow line) are the ones you need. The Malin Bridge tram, you will need to change if you are going to the ground, but its only a case of getting off a blue one en route, and waiting at the same stop for a yellow (Middlewood) one.
Do not get on one that says Meadowhall, Herdings, or Halfway.

    Hope that makes sense.
  • Friend or Defoe, you will not find anything like that within a four mile radius of Hillsborough.

Chips made from potatoes deep fried in beef dripping. Apparently the sheer volume of potato negates the animal content of dripping.

Don't they have quality oil up there then? Drippin', ffs!

  • Unfotunately most chip shops round here now use either palm oil or vegetable oil, very few still use dripping, but it is still quite prevalent in West Yorkshire.
