Morrison, our best CB since we left the prem?

I think so, been very consistent so far this season. Probably not a big debate, but our back line has been the most secure I can remember for many years, hence we are top of the league and capable of winning the big games by a 1-0 scoreline.
Morrison stands out for me and has been our mom on many occasions. Great signing CP.

agree .. ! but would he be ok without Taylor next to him.
Him and taylor are like simon & garfunkel .
  • Got a sort of Humphrey, Reid, Shirtliff and Pender feel about it (did Shirtliff & Pender play together?). Sadly, I feel unable to liken Hamer to Boulder.

I think they're a brilliant partnership though have to say I didn't think MM was quite on the ball yesterday, seemed to lose his man a couple of times & thought Hamer looked very dodgy at times but still a clean sheet so not too much to complain about ;-)

I cant separate Morrison and Taylor. Both fantastic.

Probably but we'd need to see him at a higher level.

PS: The Shirtliff and Pender question; not much. More Pender/Thompson, Shirtliff/Thompson, Shirtliff/Miller and Shirtliff/Pates.

Still none of them come close to The Rufus.

What Covered end says, morro quality, but yesterday Taylor was absolutely immense. All season, he has been there and has stood up to it. Top man and great player.
  • I would like to see how they would get on if thy were split up.

As a pairing though Morrison and Taylor are immense.

Morros about 6 years younger than Taylor, like the fact hes got a long time left at the club unless someone comes in for him

Think Taylor is an unsung hero, was immense against Sheffield Utd. Morro gets the plaudits but Taylor sort of goes unnoticed. Plus neither rarely get booked which is an added bonus.

i think this is our best back 4 since the prem . the balance of our defence is emence got solid centre halfs, and two great attacking fullbacks. Not to sure about hamer thoe thought he had a dodgy game yesterday. i honestly can't see any weak link in our back 4 at all.
  • Taylor didn't give Zamora a sniff at Fulham, and there Zamora was running riot against Newcastle.....

Taylor hasn't had the praise the others have got but I don't think he's missed a header all season. Exeter fans thought he was past it when we signed him

not entirely sure about that SCM - 4 goals suggests otherwise. I think both are fantastic centre halves in this league and Taylor in particular was immense yesterday but i wonder whether he has enough to play at the top end of the champ next year. Morrison will be fine and think he'll be here for years to come but they haven't signed Cort up for no reason.

Will be interesting to see how they cope in the CCC.

The only weakness for me the Hamer and that is fairly harsh considering our goals against stats.
  • BD, just IMO, Zamora I don't believe had a hand in any of the goals? Taylor does however lack Morro's bit of pace which gets more and more essential the higher you go up (that's why he probably marked Zamora!)
  • @BexleyDan

If the manager thought Cort was a better player at higher level wouldn't the same also hold true now ?

if it aint broke, don't fix it but no harm in having an eye on the future.
  • surprised no ones mentioned the header from taylor in the first half where he took it of evans toes in the six yard box, stuck his head in where it could of got knocked off, without a doubt a goal saving header.
  • @BexleyDan

Are you now also a defensive guru as well as being a midfield one ? ;0)

Its interesting that we are seriously considering that Morro may be the best CB for many a year and yet at the Wendies he is pretty much seen as useless. It just demonstrates to me how confidence and belief make such a huge difference. CP has clearly helped to instil that in him and it has paid off handsomely. He must enjoy every moment of football at the moment.

Just offering my opinion like everybody else SHG. I find it pointless saying 'in my opinion' after everything because of course it's my opinion - i wouldn't have written it if it weren't.

When Taylor signed for Exeter he was apparently described as a "Southern League oil tanker".

He might not be quick but so far it's not been an issue, back four work well together and all read the game well.
