Any idea what his protest was about. For those who didn't see he handcuffed his self during the game to the goal post?

Not a protest according to 5Live. Just a prank by a "well known" Scouse joker.
Other reports suggested something to do with Ryanair.

Apparently a professional protestor ( not sure the moneys good ) protesting about ryanairs recruitment policy . ODDBALL
  • Is that right, 'selected' candidates pay for their own training but might not get a job at the end of it? That's outrageous! I don't agree with a lot of their 'policies' but surely that is not on and a massive piss take?

No one forces you to work for Ryan Air same as no one forces anyone to fly with them.

Think they are a massively mean spirited company and the bloke running it an obnoxious get but all the outrage whenever a story arises is superb publicity for them.

How much would an advert in the middle of a top flight live premiership game cost which makes the papers and causes a social media frenzy.,...absolutely priceless. Wouldnt not suprise me in the slightest if the cheeky cuffed scouser was on the payroll.

  • Before now, because of their policies, I would only fly with them if there was no other option. But now I know about this, I will never fly with them. I appreciate the economics behind the decisions etc but not paying someone for their training is one thing, getting them to pay for it another. But a job not guaranteed at the end of it? Amongst other things, an outrageous way of avoiding carrying out a decent selection procedure. Appreciate you need to show an employer you want to work for them, but people lose income, and may even give up another job to take the chance. RA probably even make money out of what the candidates have to pay for!
  • thats why the seats are cheap and service shite but any way well done everton proves money dont buy u sucess all the time and as for mancini wot an arrigant arse!!

    Ryanair anthem
    That was very amusing. :-)
  • MrOL, that's true but not quite the same - you could say that about anyone who goes on to college, or any training. Just don't like the way RA conduct their business

They can also go it alone as a worst case scenario and start a business in that sector themselves. Hard for cabin crew to go self-employed!

I love the quote from Ryanair, ""What people do before or after they work for us is their business."

    Quite right, too!

Think the point is that BA, Virgin etc they pay for there crew member training.

I think BA/Virgin et al employ the people then train them.
Is this not a case of RyanAir organising a training course that people can sign up for, they may then get a job with them or with other airlines ?

To apply for a First Officer job (co pilot) job with Ryanair you first need to pay 350 euros for an interview. You then need to pay for your own type rating which costs. 26,000 euros. You then need to pay for your own training and accommodation- after this 30k you are still not guaranteed a job....and yes my son is a first officer looking for a job.
