Thanks for that Absurdistan. A truly memorable goal. I was there in my usual spot on the East Terrace in '76 with my two boys then aged 3 & 4. All three of us are still season ticket holders. Two of the chums I was with that day are also ST holders in the row behind us.
those were the days .. terrific midfield, Powell to Hales .. GOAL .. I AM gonna think it, as futile as it is .. If only, if only if only ((:>)
They made it look so simple back then, pass it forward from the back, get it out to a decent winger, stick it in the box. Hey Presto! a goal. Loved Phil Warman in those days, proper feisty little full back.

Thanks Absurdistan; always nice to see that, one of my all time favourite Charlton goals, created and scored by two genuine CAFC legends. Nice too to see it in context of the time.
I was there, with my Dad, on our old spot on the little bit of terracing between the Covered End and the West Stand. Just look at that diagonal run from one end of the pitch to the other by Paddy Powell. Fabulous player. I think the shout of "rubbish" is directed at Phil Warman who seems to slow the move down. If we could scan the crowd in the post goal celebrations we would probably see a shamefaced individual suddenly requiring a trip to the gents. Those were great days for footy at the Valley. Also: am I the only person annoyed (38 years too late) that Killer is pictured in a Derby County shirt when the late and genuinely great Brian Moore announces the goal of the season? Even now it really takes the edge off.
I was 14 when we sold Killer to Derby. Never been as gutted since, over a player sale. Although Parker's came close.
The other ones that really hurt me at the time were Kinsella to Villa and Gordon Watson to the MASSIVE Sheff Weds.
How about John Humphrey to Crystal Palace?
PS: I couldn't believe it when Hales scored 8 in 12 in 1985 (including his record breaking diving header v Huddersfield?)....so we let him go to Gillingham for next to nothing!!! One day someone will explain why we did that.

Phil Warman good memories. I remember when we played Wrexham three games in a season and they were brutal games. I remember Joey Jones topping Killer and putting him out for a couple of weeks. Come the last game of three Phil caused a mass punch up and when the dust settled Jones was laid out on the floor. Wonder who did that!
He did a Q and A in Shoot! I think it was, he listed his favourite TV show as Tom and Jerry, and his occupation if he wasn’t a footballer as a Burglar!

I wasn't as bothered about Kins going as I knew his knees had gone.
