Given that it's quite likely that St Patrick (or at least, one of several contenders) was born in England and almost certain that St George never came anywhere near the place, it makes a lot of sense. In reality, not much is known about the ancient saints (not much that can be verified anyway) and anyone that takes it seriously wants their bumps felt.

As a lover of Guinness, I'm quite happy to go along with what is ultimately one of the World's biggest marketing tricks. Just as next month I'll be quite happy to celebrate my Englishness by downing a few pints of Bombardier.

Do people really say 'you want your bumps felt?' It's said by a character on The Flumps in one episode and that's the only time I've ever heard it.

Oh crikey yes, people say it all the time. In fact, anyone that's missing out on such a fine phrase really wants their bumps felt.
