I just don't get it?

Airports I can understand. The noise levels can change considerably over time, as the airport increases the number of flights and times allowed and the planes used.
I lived under the Heathrow flightpath for my childhood and can testify that it got progressively worse to live under then. On my visits back to my family they say it still steadily gets worse.
There is a correlation of bad health - physical and mental - for those living close to major airports. And I suppose that the steady effect over years can erode the capacity to cope with the noise and disturbed sleep.

As a young person I hated the BAC11 and Concorde - the noisiest planes.

But on the other hand it's bloody convenient for when you need to hop over to the continent for a weekend.

And what about people who buy houses near motorways and then complain? whats that all about?

Has anyone ever thought that perhaps, a friend/relative was coming round in a few minutes ?
Perhaps, one of the household had popped out in the car & was due back shortly ?
I'm quite sure I wouldn't want to park half a mile away from my house and then try and walk home with a load of bags of shopping. I used to get peed off, where I lived previously & had to park in my road, but about 20 yards away.

I know what you guys are saying & I don't disagree, but there are 2 sides.

Could that not park an easily dismantled fake car in the space while they are out? When they get back in the real car they could unscrew the fake one and put in back in the cupboard.

Or just leave one of your children standing in the space till you get back, with a sign. or something.

Or maybe an unemployed neighbour would do it for a couple of quid. Dignity of labour, all that.
