Am I alone in finding the additional half hour time difference extremely confusing? I accept there has to be a time difference and 4 hours or 5 hours I could probably cope with but I get confused when I am told that play will resume after lunch at 20 to and that actually means 10 past.
I can only assume the answer lies in the fact that IST in itself is a compromise covering, as it does, a very substantial chunk of land, also in terms of longitude.
Would it not be possible for the powers that be to have the entire Indian sub-continent dragged 7.5 degrees east or west so that the populations of Europe can keep track of the cricket scores?
