Looks a lot older Big Rob,
I had a more 'flimsy' wooden one, as a kid in the very early 60's.
Probably worth a few quid as well.
mind you the paint work looks like the style of 'greenwich council decoration' ..........
Can this be used today, at a match.......

It looks similar in design to the one my dad took to the '47 Cup Final (and is now of course a family treasure) but the design of them didn't change much for many years . Ours is unpainted and pretty heavy but still makes a real racket despite it's age. I agree with Ken and Mog though, and think yours could well be pre-'60s. Ours is known in the family as the 'lucky' rattle but it seems all the luck was used up 65 years ago!0

lol Yeah, they do make a racket and this one is still in perfect working order. Not sure they would be allowed in the ground now days as they are a fair old weight. Looks good on the side board though, and can be used to wake up any weary visitors eh cafcdave123? lol

Funny you should mention that Rob. I posted on here a while ago that a steward stopped me from taking it into the ground as I could use it as an 'offensive weapon' ! Either leave it with him (oh, yeah) or take it back to the car. Needless to say it was another short cup run.0 -

i can confirm that i very nearly pissed a fair bit of french lager on myself when this was used to wake me one morning!0 -

We've got one here in the office - similar sort of thing. It belonged to my step mother's mum from when she used to go and cheer her hubby and Sam Bartram on back in the 50's.
It's bloody noisy but a cracking bit of memorabilia
