Eltham (Green) Foundation School to link up with Charlton Academy

Much as it pains me as an ex-Crown Woods boy to spread the news but it seems that Eltham's lesser comprehensive is linking up with Charlton.

To be renamed the Harris Greenwich Academy in September 2012 (presumably to shake off the Eltham Green stigma) the School will take a number of CAFC Academy players who will move schools to attend lessons alongside training.

Seems it's something that Watford and William II in Holland have been doing for a while.

    I know a young lad who is with Chelsea and they have asked him to change schools because of something similar. His parents declined, and changed clubs instead.

    Read as if the boys had the option rather than being forced to move, which seems fair.

    Strange decision , i would have thought that they would have gone to Thomas Tallis for that , brand new building, facilities and academy status, also head and shoulders above crown woods and the green . : } ding dong

    My old school Bishop Challoner (Bromley) took in a few Academy players for a few hours a week about 10 years ago. Believe it was arranged through Peter Varney as his daughter was there and obviously Alex Varney who was in the academy at the time came in as well.
