Stephens hasn't got back to the pre injury level, but then we aren't playing the same flowing football as we did before his injury. Good pre season and he'll be good for a go in the Championship, where clubs were looking at him before joining us. Hollands will step up, no doubt about it for me0

I think with pressure off, pre-season drills and possibly a new CH, we will get back to passing it out from the back and our midfield will again become influential. I'd love our back four to step up and compress the play against poor oppo or slow forwards though.0

Absolutely fantastic day. The anticipation after the final whistle while waiting for United to finish will stay with me for a long time and the buzz outside the ground after was brilliant.
Only downside, didn't care much for the cover of Red Red Robin as the teams came out. Much better to have the recorded version.0 -
No problems, just natural football progression. I agree that the team looks good enough to cope in the championship but CP will obviously be looking to increase the quality in some areas but i expect it to be a gradual process over the next year and barring a few (Hayes seems obvious), i expect the squad to stay together with just a few additions here and there to the first 11.
Exactly, I'd be very surprised if Powell only signs 2/3 players. I'm expecting a few squad players and a few we'd expect to become regulars.
Powell got rid of Clarke pretty quickly and if he can replace others with better he will.0 -
All i want to say is: Kermorgant - what a player! As my mate said yesterday, feed him steak and eggs, cage him and prod him with a stick for a week before the millwall games next year and then unleash him. CP has done wonders but signing and keeping Kermo has been his greatest achievement. A genuine hero of a player and my player of the year by a mile despite some excellent other contenders.

We can't have a Charlton thread without a bit of a moan, the guys trying to push their way onto the pitch through the stewards in the nw corner were complete and utter dickheads, spoilt a what should of been a joyous and perfect afternoon for all my family.0

a few 50 + year olds with them as well, its just a shame that while 18 odd thousand were overcome with emotion and having a great time there were a few who mostly just wanted a punch up. I thought the stewards worked well to not get too involved despite the fans obvious intents.

agree with that shrew , from the bit of a distance i was away it did feel as if they were spoiling for a fight but the stewards were pretty cool and let them vent their anger without antagonising the situation0

Good day, all - and apologies for the late entry...
All I can say is what a fantastic few days in London, topped off by watching the Addicks become the Champions.....My first game at the Valley and what a result...!!! I actually thought the PA Announcer did a wonderful job of letting the excitement build while we waited for the SheffU/MK results - and then to be there when the Valley erupted was memorable. Loved watching the match and although we could have scored a few more, there have been lots of games this year when winning by a single goal made the difference. Great to actually watch JJ, Pritch and Solly play their hearts out - no words to describe it.
Everyone I met - from the Commercial, Superstore staff (a lot less on the shelves after I left!!), people I spoke with - and those I met for the first time at the RoD, made this a very special trip. So thanks to all and despite having my wallet lifted on the Tube ride back to Heathrow, thanks to London for a fantastic time....hope to be back soon....!0 -

Forgot to add - Yann - what a warrior and everything I have listened to and watched from home confirms he would be POTY for me. That is not to detract from the others on the team because it has truly been a team effort, including coaches, manager, etc. all year long. They did not give up or give in and seemed to be in it for each other......Cheers!0

To me, only having seen a few away games this season, the present team as a whole is far far better than its make up would suggest .. a novice goalkeeper, Morrison, Cort, Taylor, been around and rejected at other clubs, Solly, too small, Wiggins, untested, Jackson, too slow and injury prone, Hollands, strictly 3rd division, Stephens, too callow and young, Green, untested outside the bottom division, Kermorgant and Wright-Phillips, not good enough for the championship, too injury prone.. etc etc etc.
To summarise, Chris Powell and his staff have got the very best from a disparate and underrated group of players. A formula has been agreed on and kept to. Defence is a priority, pretty patty patty ball is strictly secondary. I know that many changes will have to be made for next season if CAFC has realistic promotion ambitions and if momentum is to be maintained. However, whatever happens next season, I for one will not be moaning too much. This has been a season to treasure and has brought myself and all my fellow Charlton fans and critics alike, much much pleasure. To all the team and staff .. many thanks and good luck in the future.0 -
