It's just possible that there might be some politics lurking beneath the surface here. It could just be that having an international football team is a step on the path to getting international recognition for the "Principality" of Sealand. That would suit the owners, as it would stop foreign powers (UK Government agents) from accessing the site. They could then charge a premium for services such a web hosting. There's probably more than more than one business who would pay a little bit extra for such services, knowing that there's not chance of the authorities ever investigating their business. This is, of course, all speculation.
