Oh, and Pardew got the Prem award, Brian McDermott got the Championship award and Paolo Di Canio got the League Two award.

No surprises there either.

Should have been a joint award to Megson and Jones.

Would have been a travesty if anything else had happened. So well deserved, congrats SCP!

I had to laugh about the Special Merit Award for "Lee Clark, Huddersfield Town". What was that for - drawing more games than anyone else?

It's a new category. It's the award for the most beaten unbeaten award. Well deserved in my opinion.

CP getting the L1 LMA Manager of the Season award was a dead cert so obviously well done to him. Pardew getting the Prem LMA Manager of the Season award is fair enough I suppose although i've no idea how he managed it.

What I dont agree with is how Pardew also got the overall LMA Manager of the Season award. That should also have gone to Chris Powell. `Pound for pound', his achievements this season have out stripped everyone else, no question.

And ex West Ham players...

Well done, SCP.
Still baffled why Pardew gets it - one day his true colours will show through again...

It's fantastic news, but to be fair if anyone other than Chris had got it, it would have been a complete travesty. To get over 100 points with a team completely build from scratch is simply amazing.

Quote Weegie: "Still baffled why Pardew gets it"

I think Pardew was unbelievably lucky that at the time they made the decision the Premiership hadn't been decided. They couldn't give it to Fergie in case Man City won the league. They couldn't give it to Mancini in case Man Utd won. So its Pardew by default.

Got me thinking. Who of the current squad do you see making the step up to Managers in years to come?

Good question, RM - might be worth starting a thread?

I could see Danny Hollands making a good manager - very grounded, but also extremely competitive/ committed to winning.

CP interview on the OS makes me love the man even more:

"It's a special club this place. People say I would say that as I've played here and managed here, but I don't know too many clubs like this to have been through what we've been through and keep coming back."

Pardew did a great job, you can't argue with him getting PL manager of the season. To achieve 5th with the money spent, and team they put out is commendable.

Of our current team, it's difficult to tell who would make a good manager without being in the dressing room. Pritchard is clearly the most educated person there though, maybe that will help? Doesn't Michael Morrison manage a Sunday team, which is good grounding.
