The figures can be ridiculously skewed in favour of the smaller clubs also when their home attendances average less than 3000...

Man Utd must have shit support, after-all it's only around 3-4% of their home support...
  • Options
Whichever way you cut it, 2nd bottom of % away following from net home support is pitiful considering your recent history.

An average of 40 miles extra per journey over Sheff Weds is what, half hour extra on the train?
Who gives a shit, at least we get decent home support for a third tier club, how does your lot compare?

Millwall's works out at 8.89%. So slightly better than ours, but still pretty poor - especially for the league above.

Their average away attendance was 925. So less than ours, despite being in the league above.

    Exactly,

As AFKA our away support is good. Not brilliant but certainly not bad, not embarrassing or anything along those lines.

As a Club we have focused on and worked very hard to increase the support where it really matters eg at the Valley. That means more income and as a Club likely to be sold, more value. And as a Club we've done that very well.

If you don't give a shit why do you care about your home support or how we compare?

But we're the smallest team in SE London, so not bad.

(don't need to get into the membership only scheme, limited tickets for west ham and the hassle of going to Leeds)

All I want is to have a decent home support & be a bigger club than our SE neighbours simples!

There is also the fact that the average fella in the SE probably earns double or more the average fella in Bury

Its been done to death, our away support has always been poor in the 25 years I have been going away, and it probably will be for the next 25.

We have averaged over a 1000 in a very northern league this season, yeah yeah the percentage of away-home is not great (baffles me a little why the percentage is low but that's the way it is) but we have travelled more miles than most (obviously excluding the real outpost teams). With money as tight as it is, and the fact for many it is often a choice of away games, for example for some it may have been Scunthorpe OR Huddersfield, I genuinely don't think we have much to be ashamed about.

In addition, in terms of fixtures, our numbers would be higher if we did not play Yeovil on boxing day AND Orient at a ridiculous time on NYE. We would also have sold more tickets for Stevenage, Brentford, Bournemouth if they had been available.

Looking at our individual away followings, there are only a couple of games where perhaps we should have taken more imho.
Agree that apart from a couple of games the turnouts were better than in previous years.

However, my point all along with percentage of home att to away following has always been iffy, this unfortunately has been proved.

Although it could be said if our away following was zero all that matters is that we do well on the pitch

Only table that really matters has Charlton at the top

Our numbers are slightly distorted, as the convenient local away games were at small grounds with limited away tickets, the Fulham support shows (to an extent) the level of away following for 'attractive' local fixtures.

We also didn't sell many away tickets at The Valley, Arsenal moved across London partially for that reason, as it's easier for away fans to get to Finsbury Park than Charlton/Woolwich...
