    Scholes I would say is respected more than liked. Zola currently not in the game.

    Agree with that. Disliked him ever since he started doing interviews after his 'retirement'. Wish he'd kept that mouth shut!

    I don't know if his role counts, but for me, Trevor Brooking. I respect everything he says (that isn't West Ham related).

    Can we count Sir Bobby Robson? I know he's dead but he's still very much loved by football fans of all denominations.

    Joe Hart is a good shout, universally rated as a player and comes accross as a good guy although hasn't had the time to build the kind of far reaching reputation for all round godliness that Chrissy P has.

    I'd say that whoever comes top of most loved man in English football is probably quite low down in the list of most loved Englishman.

    Beckham, by a million miles. Not even a debate really! He is pretty much the only England player of the past fifteen years who has a god-like status.

    I for one am a big fan of his.

    Keithie P. Only one booking throughout his long and distinguished career, great sportsman, fine player. Well respected and highly regarded as a coach, manager, assistant manager, scout etc etc. Not forgetting his loyalty, a very rare quality these days.
