They would only look at the ball crossed line issue. If the go back to see if someone was offside then they culd go back even further to see if there was a handball inthe build up etc.........the players and fans won't want to wait

Posted this on the "World Cup in Qatar .... " thread earlier this morning.

"The loathsome, woeful and utterly incompetent Sepp Blatter has now come clean.

Asked in an interview on Swiss TV whether it was an error to award Qatar the 2022 World Cup he replied "Yes, of course. You know, everyone makes mistakes in life."

In any organisation with a semblance of accountability and any form of effective oversight and governance it is simply inconceivable that this complete buffoon could survive such an impossibly crass error.

FIFA really is a spectacular example of self governance at its most incompetent and corrupt."

Let's hope the other bidding countries go after FIFA for damages on the basis that they were misled about the bid process.

They should change the name from FIFA to Fyffes - world sport's very own banana republic ....

Come on guys, let's be reasonable. How on earth was Sepp Blatter to know that Qatar, a country that is mostly desert, was hot in the summer?

"Everyone makes mistakes..." Hahaha! Not of this magnitude, mate!

Word round the campfire is that Qatar was simply a power move by Platini, Blatter was surprised as much as anyone when he saw Qatar on the card. You'd be hard pressed to find an interview about Qatar in which Blatter doesn't have a subtle dig at the decision. The reason for this statement saying it was a mistake is because he's running again for presidency, against, I'm guessing, Platini.

Blatter is an oligarch slightly above a group of oligarchs that can quite easily bring him down and bring in their own man if they're not happy. Blatter is no longer an all powerful dictator as he once was.

to be fair, the Antarctic is a desert and it is not that hot.....

Go on... You cant leave us hanging there... I see a great potential World Cup location if we can present Blatter with a good enough envelope presentation

David Ginola is the latest person to announce the will stand in the next Fifa Presidency elections joining

    Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein
    Jerome Champagne
    and of course Sepp Blatter

so last time he ended up running unopposed, looks like this time he will have to do it the hard way

He may have to dig a little deeper into the slush fund this time!.

He'll still be elected due to the massive bribes he pays to the 'third world' nations FAs.

This. FIFA's one-member-one-vote system is hugely disproportionate since outside the core set of countries the representatives have largely no interest in football and are only attending FIFA for the gravy train. They also tend to be from poorer countries where corruption is rife and would think nothing of accepting a backhander (under the guise it's for development of football in their region yet most of it will go towards adding another floor or swimming pool to the delegate's mansion). Indeed I imagine he has found himself in a situation where it would be unwise to stand down before he dies because if he did, he'd find himself at the mercy of all the people he's bribed over the years who could likely blow the whistle on Sepp's activities if it became profitable.

Short story shorter, Blatter has played a blinder during his tenure by claiming the money he uses to bribe poor countries' delegates with is done under the guise of reversing the damage done by colonialism and racism when in fact he is exploiting the corruption and poverty of such countries in order to line his own pockets. No doubt his successor would do the same. I don't think anything short of dissolving FIFA would cure the cancer that has allowed to develop and grow under Blatter.

Ginola isn't actually running. It's being backed by Paddy Power, which tells you all you need to know. Even if he does secure the support of five national associations, it's only being done as a publicity stunt.

The 'favoured candidate' to be his successor is from that hotbed of world class football, Jordan .. and of course that part of the world is famous for its upstanding and corruption free business dealings (excuse the sarcasm)

Trouble is that after Blatter, a dream ticket of The Joker and The Riddler would seem preferable in comparison Lincs...
