I know we have some record collectors and Rock n Roll fans on here so I hope someone can help.
I have just bought a beautiful original 1959 Phillips suitcase record player and I am looking to buy some vintage mono rock n roll and blues records. Can anyone recommend a reputable vintage record dealer? If anyone has a link I would be grateful.

Not to sure if these are still going but there used to be a Record dealer at Rochester market and from memory the market in Berwick street, Soho has an old record stall....these may not exist now but you never know, also in Dartford (Lowfield Street) there was a small mini-market that used to sell old records...and may still do so.0

There's a record (&cd) fair at Old Spitalfields Market every second Saturday from June through to September - next one is July 14th.0

Some great albums on there........
King Crimson, Live at Leeds, Axis, Zep, and so forth.........
As much as I love the music, owning the album's has never held an attraction for me.

used to go to that stall in the late 80's. always went on a saturday morning to get 1st dibs as the bloke turned up with all the latest us imports.0 -
The market stall on Berwick St has gone now, so have three of the four shops. Just Sister Ray left0

We bought an old record player to play vinyl and find stuff at charity shops and car boot fairs, most want 50p a record. Time consuming though going through the dross for stuff you fancy.0

I appreciate that they are now very collectable, but I've been looking on the Internerd and some of the original Beatles, Stones and Elvis prices are ridiculous!0 -

Agree this is the way forward, as well as going to the actual shops themselves, TBH I'm quite excited about getting the old songs on vinyl.0 -
Some years ago I started a jukebox hire business and needed to increase my 7" vinyl collection. I scoured bootfairs for months and bought some great singles, but the vast majority of the singles for sale were from the 70s and 80s so it was hard going and time-consuming. There were a few must have singles - one of which was Hotel California. Couldn't find that anywhere and eventually bought it from a specialist shop in Croydon - wish I could remember the name but I doubt it's still there.
The jukebox business didn't last - I made a fundamental mistake I think - I bought a van. What I should've done was fit a tow hook to my car and get a trailer. The van costs crippled us from the outset, but you live and learn. The end result though is that I have approx 4,500 singles - if anyone wants to pop round and look through them I am willing to sell most of them. PM me if interested.0 -

No, I think it was called the Vinyl Resting Place, or something equally cheesey. It was in Shirley, rather than central Croydon
Beano's was a favourite haunt of mine when at Croydon Technical college. Spent many a lunch hour in there and bought several great albums.0 -

Greenie, if it's proper 1950s purits' rock 'n' roll, you're after, Sounds That Swing in Parkway, Camden, would be a very good choice.
Probably a bit too specialist for Geenies requirements, but Barney the owner is a decent bloke and might have some suggestions of other places in Camden.
