  • Bridgerton is great fun
  • The wife sits there watching Bridgerton, but if I so much as take my eyes off CL for a few seconds and glance at the TV, she stares at me all knowing and disapproving. What's that all about?

The wife is watching Bridgerton which I am quite enjoying myself
So you are watching Bridgerton ;)
I have to watch it whilst browsing charltonlife in order to answer the 'who's is that' type questions my wife asks

     Upper class,regency nonsense.

*Checks cast. Sees Polly Walker's in it.
I'm in!!  When is it on?
  • Lupin is great but watch in french with English subtitles as the dubbing is atrocious

very late to this but we just finished watching This Country... highly recommend it, a mockumentary style comedy like the Office set it the Cotswolds.

    Really good 👍🏼
    Thought it was superb.

Comedy genius. The trainer on the train is one of the best scenes ever.
  • Really enjoying season 4 (sadly the last) of Call My Agent, a French show with a similar concept to Extras (but more gentle and soapy). A really good show. Also catching up on the Great, a comedy drama very loosely (hardly anything is historically accurate) based on Catherine the Great made by the same guy who did the Favourite.

Absolutely, I re-watch that scene every few weeks if I'm feeling a bit down!

The series was great, love the fact that they're mostly all family in real life too!
  • according to the TV critic on Jo Wiley (Radio 2) a new series starting on 5 next week called The Drowning is highly recommended, on every night I believe.
  • The Ripper on Netflix is excellent. The police up in Yorkshire were useless.
Watched it today. They made so many basic errors and simply disregarded so much potentially important information.
Watched this last night and can't believe how many times the West Yorkshire police ballsed up!
It was before my time but obviously I knew a bit about the story, just didn't realise how many errors were made and how all of the victims were just portrayed as wronguns.
One thing the programme didn't really go into or clear up was,  who was the bloke from Sunderland sending the letters and tapes? What was his story?
  • Nearly finished Gangs of London on sky. Excellent i thought

John Samuel Humble- was found using DNA evidence from one of the letters, and jailed for 8 years for perverting the course of justice in 2006.  Served half of it, died in 2019 if memory serves correctly. Quite a few priors, seemingly a hatred of police- think he wanted to get famous and make West Yorkshire look like idiots- the latter he certainly achieved.

Cheers. A hatred of police would make sense why he did what he did I guess. 2006 is a long time to get away with it.
I will have a read up thanks.

Believe he was also surprised when they took it so seriously and after a further death he tried to call to tell them it was a hoax and they ignored it.

    Glad he eventually got caught.

Well last nights episode was a bit raunchy.

Sally Webster - do you know what your daughter is up to !!
  • WandaVision getting a lot more interesting as the episodes go by

If you can make it to the end of Ep3 then it starts getting a bit more than just baffling
  • Nearly finished Gangs of London on sky. Excellent i thought
Think I got through half an hour but there was too much mockney “this is London” nonsense for my liking.

  • Finished Bridgerton.
    Good lightweight frothy entertainment

Enjoying this more now. Caught up with latest episode last night and it’s really starting to build in to something now. I’m not great at understanding all the connections with Marvel films, but will be interesting to see how this show phases in to the next couple of films.
  • Anyone watching The Investigation?
I do love a bit of Scandi TV
Really good that it concentrates just on the victim, their family and the police.
No spoilers as I still have two to go.

When I watched episode 1of Wandavision, I started off thinking it looked like an interesting idea, but by the time the episode finished and they’d played the whole thing straight, I was wondering where on earth it was going and whether it was a ridiculous vanity project. I decided to stick with it and, to my surprise, they continued to play it straight for episode 2 and 3.
The thing is, despite it looking, to all intents and purposes, like an unfunny tribute show, it was absolutely fascinating. A couple of little clues and tips thrown in here and there, but those three episodes were completely and utterly faithful to American sitcoms of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
Which brings me to the performances of the main actors. Paul Bettany and most of the cast are nailing it, but I’m most impressed by Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn. The way the actors are speaking, interacting, reacting and their physical performances are absolutely spot on. If you decide to watch it, pay particular attention in to Olsen and Hahn in the 50s and 60s episodes (episodes 1 and 2) - listen to their voices, their expressions, the mannerisms, the way they hold their hands - they’re different in every episode and they’ve got it absolutely spot on. It’s a really impressive demonstration of actors excelling.

I’ve now watched episode 4 and it’s beginning to make more sense now - the clues and hints are starting to be explained and it’s looking like it could be very interesting. I’m now hooked.
I hope it continues to be interesting and surprising. My biggest surprise is how much I’m enjoying it. If you’re planning on giving it a go, don’t be put off by how weird the first episode or two are. Appreciate it for what it is and stick with it.

    Yes, it's very good.
  • I'm a Pet Shop Boys fan but didn't know there was a new TV series with their song title 'It's A Sin' until I read a Cover to Cover thread the other day on here. Just finished all five episodes in one go this evening and really loved it. Shed a lot of tears especially watching the latter 3 episodes.... I only knew Olly Alexander as a singer and to my surprise he is very good in this series.
  • Binge watched Finding Alice yesterday, didn’t think it was too bad, funny in places, easy to watch, glad I didn’t take the advice in here really.
  • Spiral series 8 finished on BBC4 yesterday.
I started watching last year after bolloxbolder recommended.
It is now available on iplayer from series 1 2005.

I watched episodes 3 and 4 live on Friday and felt like giving it a roundnof applause. The creators of the show really set their stall out. Best way to explain it is to compare it with The Serpent. I enjoy that too, but in that the  murderer is centre stage. In the Investigation they ignore him. I don’t think we will even hear his name. Rather like how NZ PM Jacinda Ardern refused to say the name of their terrorist. Instead it concentrates on the living victims ( the parents) and the ordinary people in public service who step up to the plate to hold the killer to account. Turns out too that some of those ordinary heroes have four legs. If you are ok with subs you really should try it. Its another case of Denmark punching way above its weight in the TV drama world.

    Nailed it!
