Mobland was class. I might be going against the grain a bit but I grew to absolutely love Pierce Brosnan and his accent as well as Helen Mirrens. They reminded me of one of my mates parents, less gaellic, but the annunciation was spot on. Paramount are pumping great show after great show out
Thought the last of us was poor and they have made this season total filler in my opinion to keep making the show for as long as possible as opposed to doing a tight and neat story
Few of my favourites have finished for now or had finished a while ago. Now into season 2 of Peaky Blinders, its ok but they are arseholes, every single one of them! It also explains why so many of Chathams finest loved it, they see themselves in it. I do like Alfie Solomons though, especially his history lessons and attitude to anti-jew banter. Your friends and neighbours started brilliantly but seems to be running out of juice, Jon Hamm is loving it but I really just want more of the horrible German act fencer and Elena.
I'm patently waiting for Mayor of Kingstown to come back as well as Tulsa King, or Lioness. Anything Taylor Sheridan made in fact as well as Slow Horses, love that.
Stranger Things not back until November
Clarksons farm is brilliant, we will miss Jeremy Clarkson when he is gone he makes such good television.
I always wondered how so much shite gets commissioned, reality shows, wanky stuff that ends up normally on ITV and Channel 5 until my missus moved in with me and then understood it exists so people can have something on a screen in the background while they play with their phones.
Also trigger warnings. If something promises me violence, bad language, nakedness, sexual scenes then that is what I want, not a glimpse of bare flesh, a bare arse of a body double or their back in a shower or someone getting a dry slap. I'd hoped game of thrones set the bar with this, proper violence you want to cover your face from, hairy minges, warts on penises being examined. C-bombs not a muttered mild swear. And less making the whole plot about "strong female characters" they exist, just write them in, most of the star wars stuff is packed with them and by and large it works without the signposting the acolyte got.
Also, while I'm on the subject, anything that over romanticises kids in something that is otherwise adult-oriented, they do nothing but slow stories down, Disney always kill off parents for the same reason. It would be sociopathic to do that to kids in fiction I suppose.
do yourself a favour @carter and just stop Peaky Blinders now. you have basically seen it, just rinse and repeat the next 4 series.
Spot on. It peaked in season 1. Have never got the fuss over this show. If you want a laugh though check out Adrien Brody in it.
I have wiped the Brody series from my memory
There’s a lot of genuinely ridiculous things in Peaky Blinders (I don’t think I’ve even bothered to watch the last season). The Billy Boys featuring was probably the silliest thing they ever did.
I really enjoyed RATW this time around and really didn’t mind who won. The buses in India have changed though, blimey!
Enjoyed the India parts a lot more than China - presumably they had a lot more freedom filming?
Brian and Melvyn and Fin and Sioned were our two favourite couples - warmed a bit to Caroline and Tom by the end but did feel like the producers focusing a bit more on the sob stories and theirs basically being 'we've got so much of a privileged life that we get a bit bored' didn't really endear me to them!
The girls were ok but a bit dull!
Southern India and Nepal both looked great from this series.
Looking at SM this seems to be a common thought about ‘sob stories’. I really didn’t get that at all, I like the back stories, makes them more real. Caroline did annoy me as she mollycoddled Tom too much imho but I’ve never been a mother so I see it as my issue not hers. The girls reminded me of me and my eldest sister, we never knew each other until we were both in our 20\30’s. I'm looking forward to next weeks episode where they all talk about it together 🤩
They've always had the background stuff - slightly estranged families, or some with physical difficulties etc, but I do feel it's become front and centre more than it used to be, and it's being done less naturally.
The fact that half of it is done in flashbacks being interviewed about whatever the issue is before they've even started shows that - I'd prefer it to be talking heads to camera in the actual place etc. If they talk about the issues during the actual race time it feels more natural and actually more of a 'journey' than them deciding beforehand the stuff they want to shoehorn in.
I really enjoyed this season of 'Race Across the World' and am disappointed it's finished. I think that all of the contestants were likeable people and it was interesting to watch their relationships blossom as the journey progressed, particularly the brothers and Caroline and Tom. The close bond that was forged between mother and son was touching and he is fortunate to have the memories of that time with her to look back on fondly for the rest of his life. The route was an interesting one, particularly the India section as the language barrier often creates extra challenges. Credit to the teenage girl for pushing through the tears and eventually acclimatising. I fled to Nepal after two weeks backpacking there alone, years ago!

Absolutely Bob! India is definitely a marmite country and I thought she’d be off but fair play to her, she absolutely smashed it. Will be the making of her imho.

I’ve spent a lot of time in India and what the girl went through was very very common. The culture shock is real and can mess with your head. But once you’re through it there’s no looking back. It’s a wonderful country with fantastic people. It was great to see her get to a good place mentally.
Love the programme. Really warmed to Brian and Melvin. Next week will be good.

It's a good show though, don't get me wrong!

Edit!
