Started watching Peaky Blinders, only a couple of Episodes into the first season but it seems really good - Love the quote from Polly to Ada when discussing the abortion: "You'll be called a whore, the baby will be a bastard, but the man who doesnt return will be called nothing"
One of those lines that just makes you think0 -
It was ok.Fumbluff said:Soz for not scrolling back.Missus trying to get me to watch “Dirty Business”, sadly a promising name but I believe it is about water pollution companies, anyone watched it? Is it a snooze fest?0 -

One of the best shows ever IMO.carly burn said:
Enjoy! It's right up there.LargeAddick said:Not new, in fact about 25 years old, but just watching Band of Brothers for the first time. Good cast of Brits playing Yanks, some dodgy accents, but a very good watch but brings home just how brutal war is.4 -
We watched the first episode, it just feels a bit samey to Derry Girls, kinda one trick pony sort of stuff.Weegie Addick said:
Yes just started it too. Basically grown up Derry Girls, but then it is the same writer.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:How to get to Heaven from Belfast(Netflix)
Comedy thriller set in Ireland. Just watched the first part - very funny and interesting storyline. Set around a reunion following the death of a school friend.0 -

Lord of the flies was very weird. I did watch all episodes, but it wasn't a pleasant watch. It was a bit too 'arty' and very slow.3

funny that, I just started this for the first time ever too, watched first episode yesterdayLargeAddick said:Not new, in fact about 25 years old, but just watching Band of Brothers for the first time. I watched it a few weeks ago and agree it's very good, especially towards the end.paulsturgess said:

Industry managed to work for another series
Its almost a different show from what it began as but I'm enjoying the ride. Was really worried they had run out of road0 -
Finding 'Dirty Business' an interesting watch. It is shocking how bad our water companies and regulators are.Covered End said:

Yeah - in fairness though who could possibly have foreseen that completely gutting an independent regulator for a privatised industry with a captive audience would have resulted in such a shit show (pun intended)hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

One of the consequences of privatising an industry is that lots of peoples' pensions get affected if you then stop that privatised industry from profiteering off its captive audience. There are no real solutions to this problem - other than accepting that some industries should be run for the benefit of the population as a whole not for profit, and not selling them off in the first place.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

If they dont like it they should take it up with the fund trustees.Major investors in Thames Water are:OMERS (Canada): ~32%USS (UK): ~20%Infinity Investments (Abu Dhabi): ~10%China Investment Corporation: ~9%British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI): ~8.7%Why should we put up with our environment being ruined for the benefit of these people and the useless executives on their payroll?

Really missed Knights of the Seven/Nine Kingdoms being on yesterday. 6 episodes was nowhere near enough!3
-
Just finished the four part itv series The Lady. A true story about Sarah Fergusons dresser.
The main actress apparently comes from Bexley.
Like the Betrayal, I wouldn't recommend it. I must admit struggling with the latest series of Industry.
Off tack, the latest series of the Night Agent is superb.2 -
Finished season 1 of Shrinking (Jason Siegal/ Harrison Ford) really enjoyed it and some genuine real laughs throughout. Apple TV4

Yep really enjoyed this. Was gutted it was only 6 short episodes but nice to see a concise story told without much faff and great acting.ValleyGary said:Really missed Knights of the Seven/Nine Kingdoms being on yesterday. 6 episodes was nowhere near enough!1 -

See Southland is now available on Netflix and I'm planning on watching the whole thing again!
One of the best Police dramas out there imho.1 -
This is one of those shows that, for me, started off pretty well but has got steadily worse.johnnybev1987 said:Finished season 1 of Shrinking (Jason Siegal/ Harrison Ford) really enjoyed it and some genuine real laughs throughout. Apple TV
Season 1 was good, season 2 a bit meh, season 3 is just getting a bit annoying.
All the characters are flawed, which was fine before, because they’re dealing with it and they’ve got good intentions yada-yada, and that’s kind of the point, and they’re all somewhat unbelievable, which I can forgive to an extent, but in this season I’m starting to actively dislike some of them:The shrink who’s not Jason Segel or Harrison Ford gets less likeable with every episode, she’s just relentless arrogance and bitchy jibes and plays her race for laughs so often it’s getting tiresome. The woman out of scrubs with the train wreck plastic surgery (who conveniently happens to be married to the show creator Bill Lawrence [wonder how she got that gig?]) is clearly comic relief, which worked ok for a bit but it’s got really old now.I’d say similar for the gay friend, but I’d go further. His character is insufferable. They’ve turned the gay clichés up to 11 but the character just comes across as a massive, selfish, spoilt arsehole. Some characters are ok. Ford and Segel are fine, but somewhat repetitive. Harrison Ford’s girlfriend is fine. The daughter is ok. The guy in the pool house is ok. Michael J Fox’s occasional cameos are pretty good and quite heartwarming. The bloke married to old facelift is probably the best and most amusing character in it.
Maybe they’re going somewhere with all this, but I suspect it’s Bill Lawrence going down his age old path of making a show popular enough to make money, then not bothering to make it good anymore. Just like Scrubs and Ted Lasso.
I’m not sure I quite agree with this, but I heard someone describe Bill Lawrence as the “Taylor Sheridan of sitcoms.”
Made me laugh more than the show. 😎3 -
Just to back up the goodwill for Small Prophets - really loved this, somehow Crook's stuff always manages to get me in the feels. Super TV and just a lovely way about it. Given the plot it's amazing how he makes it all work.2

What does 'in the feels' mean? I'm assuming it originates from the US....ThomasOliver3 said:Just to back up the goodwill for Small Prophets - really loved this, somehow Crook's stuff always manages to get me in the feels. I say it, and have done for years, and I'm in my fifties. Do you know anyone under 40? Pretty common in that demographic.hoof_it_up_to_benty said:

For anyone who enjoyed Small Prophets, would recommend The Change by Bridget Christie. It has a similar feel to it and is quite enjoyable. It should be available on 4OD0
