Drummed into my head as a young kid by my uncle who was northern Irish massive rangers fan0
-
Unfortunately a lot of people do it not for the family/sentimental connection but because of right wing political connections. Each to their own but am not a fan because of the latter reason, well executed tattoo though.dancafc said:Drummed into my head as a young kid by my uncle who was northern Irish massive rangers fan

Right wing? Or loyalist or maybe because they're a club proud of their British roots. Stereotype away though.sadiejane1981 said:

So aren't all British clubs proud of their British roots ?
Have you got all English & Scottish club tattoos ?2 -
I don't think I stereotyped at all there. But please tell me the exact reason why some may think rangers are more patriotic than Celtic or any other Scottish/English clubs? The Organiser said:

A stereo type is saying or assuming ALL in a particular group ARE something. I never said that. I said a lot of people etc etc.
A stereo type would be saying "all rangers fans are racists", I never said that.0 -
You never said that correct but you indicated a lot which is more or less stereo typing which ever way you look at it

Eh... No it's not!leftbehind said:You never said that correct but you indicated a lot which is more or less stereo typing which ever way you look at it
If I say a lot of Charlton supporters are lifers am I stereotyping all Charlton supporters as forum users?
I said there is a connection with right wing political views, which is fact, there are SOME people that have no connections to Scotland at all that choose to follow rangers because they say they are more vocal and open about their lets say...pride of Britain.

Okay but personally i dont agree - I would say that saying "a lot of people do it for right wing political connections" is a stereotype, just like if I said "most women are bad drivers" - which I don't believe btw.sadiejane1981 said:

Celtic could never be called patriotic to Britain could they. Their anti-britishness is clear to see throughout the club.
Maybe some other Scottish clubs are patriotic but they don't openly display it like Rangers do.

I take it that Salmon and his cohorts are not a Rangers fans then.0

Ok, fair enough, like I said each to their own, I wasn't trying to cause an argument I was saying what I was told by someone who is by their own admission a BNP voting skinhead that like rangers and Millwall that the reason they support rangers is as I stated, he told me that a lot of people support rangers for that reason. The Organiser said:

I want to also add that this person is not a friend of mine simply a big mouthed repair man that I stupidly asked about his twin tattoo.0 -
For the record I believe all women are bad drivers and will be getting a tattoo to demonstrate this.3

So now your saying anyone proud to be British is right wing

You know full well what I'm talking about I am not saying on here. There is a difference in the way we as people demonstrate our pride and our ideas of a perfect Britain I'm leaving it at that you are going to jump on the defensive whatever I say.leftbehind said:

Surely you have to acknowledge that a large number of the English who 'support/follow' Rangers as well as an English team do so because of Loyalist reasons.1

The saddest thing is that this country has lost so much of its identity that the cross of st George an innocent rangers tattoo or some one with a bone head hair cut are ultimately first considered a big got or racist , looked upon as a thug or hooligan
When ultimately they are a happy go lucky person who let's folk live the lives they wish to follow with peace and goodwill
It's a real shame that as quickly as the word racist or right wing is used to describe someone who looks a certain way and supports a certain team
That the fact that they might just like having a skin head and showing their support of a team they have an affinity with due to footballing reasons or family connections the self same as cafc connections
As a non racist heavy set skin head with tattoos married to a catholic with 3 catholic children
My love of all things cafc and rangers needs not be explained to anyone because ultimately it's no more anyone else business than why there is a girl who lives up my road with pink hair in dread locks and is white
They do it because they can they want too and they like it
Yet for some reason have to continually defend why
Heaven forbid a group of people be questioned and challenged on things based on the way they look in the year 2014
And not have someone in a prominent position to support them and fight their corner
It's reminiscent of a bygone era
For every bigoted person there's thousands in every day life that are not but may have the same taste in tattoos or football teams
For every hoodie thug hanging around an estate in the dark there's thousands of hoodies hanging round who deplore the antics of those
For every crazy religious nut job there's millions of no crazy religious folk
It might not be right to say but bigotry and non conscious stero typing is as prevalent in society today on all levels of sub culture be it that of the skin headed tattoo football fan to the burka wearing Muslim or the hoodie wearing black kid just because the mask is different on all those that wear it doesn't make the person the same
Yet in many cases like this it's fine to suggest that because you have something or look a certain way your in some way associated with a thought process
Is that any different to the levels of black kids unfairly stopped and searched because the way they look
or the Muslim burka wearing women being told they are suppressed trod down women
Or the bearded Muslim male an extremist
It's a real shame that the same noises are banded around but in different guises
