    Good to know but not unexpected. What was hayes tweet to Jacko about the other day something along the lines of "Keep your talking on the field"? Fall out or banter?

    If true, and I think EA has said before he knows him or a family members, shame about Hayes but wish him good luck if and when he finds another Club. Was part of the great, unbeaten, start to the season that paved the way to the Championship.

    Also a nice guy.

    Not much to say about Clarke. Looked so much better when he played against us than he ever did for us.

    Charlton want a fee for Paul Hayes but clubs are being put off by his wages. I learnt today that Clarke actually earns more than PH amazing!

    Wasn't it more a case of helping Benno to find a Club where he could get regular first team football ?

    Yeah I don't think you can call Clarke a mistake. Benno wanted to go and Powell obviously wasn't going to get any money for him so instead he capitalised on Paolo not wanting Clarke and made sure we had a back-up option in attack. Hayes was out on loan and Haynes is a bit injury-prone. If BWP had picked up an unjury we would have been very grateful to have had Clarke around.

    We should have just let Benson go on a free and then we wouldn't have been paying Clarke's wages.

    Can't believe we would have takejn a player that we did not want on an 18 month contract (I think ) to help another player out, if thats the case we should have just loaned benno til the end of his contract .. either way a mistake. That said Clarkes record last season till we bought him seemed reasonable to justify bringing him in.

    Not surprised. Just hope if Hayes does leave we bring in a proper replacement. No point bringing in a Baldock/Schlupp type player and leaving us without cover for Kermorgant. Bit too early to expect Smith to step up.

    Like Hayes but don't think he's really a Championship player, so hope he gets a good move and will wish him well.

    Clarke was a bit of a gamble that hasn't worked out, but we didn't lose much given Benson's wages went out when he came in.

    Given @essex_al has previously mentioned that he is close to Hayes. I'm guessing that it came straight from the horses mouth.

    Seems fashionable to doubt every post on here at the moment so you fill your boots.

    Cheers Clem and Nicholas, I'm seriously considering not bothering posting anymore on here. I don't confess to being in the know with much, but Nich and myself have a mutual mate who is close to PH. It's not fantastic info, but I thought other fans would be interested, especially with the wages bit, I find it incredible that we are able to pay Clarke 5k a week! I've posted twice in the last week and had snide comments both times for what reason I really don't know. Why would I want to make it up?

    Blimey Clarke on £5K - far too much - no wonder we are stuck with him for now. I thought the average League1 wage was about £2/3K.

    With those sort of wages being handed out to average/pony league one players it wouldn't surprise me if one of the money men did get cold feet when the number crunching was done and we were weighing up what sort of dough was to be required to get a half decent championship squad together

    With regards to all the bitchy comments by goony charlton fans who don't like to hear the truth cos it doesn't sit pretty with them, just ignore em, unfortunately they don't go away but I can assure you I'm happy with all info shared on here as I'm certain most of its said in the right spirit

    £5k for Clarke??? The football world really is mad! We'll never get a full fee/ no wage contribution for him sadly
