My son is going out with a Trinidadian, so I guess we'll be looking out for Trinidad & Tobago.
  • Barbados. Love the place and when Obadele Thompson got a bronze in the 100m at Sydney (first ever athletics medal for the island), the government gave him a big plot of land, built him a house and free flights for life. Got to admire that kind of proportionate response. If someone wins a gold (110m hurdles a decent shot) then I can't wait to see what they'll give the winner. Cliff Richard's house must be worth taking off him.

Malta for me. Love the country, don't ask why. They have 4 athletes competing. 2 in athletics, 1 swimmer and 1 shooter.
  • Apart from Team GB of course.

I've been tasked (don't ask) to support a second team in the Olympics, so I'm going for Malawi.

4 competitors, 1 in the marathon, 1 in the 400 metres, and 2 in the 50metres Freestyle. One of the competitors bearing the first name of Charlton.

As they don't have any 50 metre pools to train in, in Malawi, let alone heated ones, I figure the 2 swimmers need some support.

[Miserable buggers need not apply :-)]

Meant to post this at the weekend. I reckon we should all get behind Charlton if he's not up against a Brit'.

    Somalia.

Not just because my daughter-in-law is Somali and therefore my grandson is half-Somali.

But because there is no team at the Olympics that has suffered more adversity and tragedy.

There are only two of them - Mohamed Hassan Mohamed in the men's 1500 metres and Zamzam Mohamud Farah in the women's 400 metres.

There is not a single athletics track in the whole country," Zamzam says. ""Some have been used as army bases. Some have been destroyed. The talent is there but not the facilities.''

Actually, I think they are probably my first team. Soomaaliyeey toosoo !
    Is 2 people a team? ;-)

Cuba, seeing as I work for a Cuban bank.

Today the 200 strong Cuban team arrived in London without any toiletries. The head of their team knows our General Manager so, as you do, he turned up at our Bank after toiletries. Our GM and office manager trooped of to Asda on the Isle of Dogs to purchase 200 lots of shampoo, shower gel, toothpaste etc. Unreal.
  • Malawi for me! Based just around the corner so I'm seeing is as supporting my local team ;-)

I'll also be looking out for the St Lucian team. My other half is half St Lucian, half GB so I reckon I should do that. They only have 4 athletes too.

Serbia I guess now as my grandson is one eighth Serbian.

They have a female shooter competing in her 7th Olympics and a high jumper competing in his 6th.

Novak Djokovic, the tennis player, is arguably the best hope of a medal.

    I th

Any of the womens beach volleyball teams
Nope, they are saying if it stays this cold and wet they will all play in leggings and long sleeve tops

I think you're clutching at straws here hoping it turns into a mud wrestle.

If it is below 16 degrees they can wear trackies.
Gotta love a sport where there are actual rules limiting the size of the womens undies.

Can still get tickets for £40 for this and that includes Sat + Sun - you see 4 games.

I'll have to go for 2 as well.

Luxembourg, because it's been my home for nearly 40 years and Germany, because if I don't, my (German) wife will kick my head in!

I've been working with a group from the Ghanaian government for the last couple of weeks. Really lovely bunch of people with a great sense of humour so Ghana is my second team.
  • It's got to be the UAE for me. Their football team only qualified by coming back from 2-0 down away to Uzbekistan to win 3-2 with an injury time winner. It made headlines out here & they've been rewarded by being drawn in the same group as team GB.
  • All the military personnel and volunteers, who are here because G4S can't be!
