In, Tug of war, one of the original Olympic sports...
More seriously In, Netball - a major international Commonwealth sport, undoutedly played in more countries than, say Handball In Squash, again a major international sport
Out Golf (i.e. before it gets lets in) Out Taekwondo - too much of a Korean sport, why this martial art?
Football must make too much money to drop, but I'd make men's football purely U23 (i.e. no overage players) or even U21 so it becomes more like amateur boxing is to professional boxing, a stepping stone for people starting off.
Out: rhythmic gymnastics: however clever it is it is a circus act and not a sport and it's too difficult to spell. Everything that needs marking by judges rather than having a clear-cut result.
In: (But they won't) water skiing. (In case you don't know the IOC refuse to have anything with an engine even though the skiers would all use the same boat. So it's much more about human endeavour than any of that horse-based rubbish.)
In defintely Squash a proper game with a ,ong history and the players are athletes Out pick any one from Football, synchronised swimming or rythmic gymnastics
A mate of mine's dad works at the BOA, and he said that when they were trying to include cricket, they were actually going to create a new format. It was 20/20 with one team batting 10 overs, then the over team, then they come out for the other 10 overs. I don't think it would hit off, but would be exciting for the Olympics. Tactics come into play. Got rejected anyhow, and it cannot be raised as an option until 2024 at the earliest I think.
In: Anything good to watch that captures more sports ... as people above mention...rugby 7s; 20:20, chess... or even chess boxing! out: sync swimming, dressage and rhymic gymastics... why?
Comments
