Putting the final score into the Match Thread title

Is it just me? Sometimes I am out and about during a match, but rather than find out the final score immediately, I like to log-on to CL and follow the match thread as though it is "live". If the final score is added to the title as soon as the match finishes, then it takes away this option.

Am I strange or does anyone else do this too?

    TOTALLY AGREE!!

I even blur my eyes in an attempt to get into the match thread without knowing the score... Doesn't always work mind ... Would love it if someone took note ...

Who edits them? I assumed they can only be edited by whoever created the thread, that was until one of mine was changed a while back.

    Admin maybe?

Yer I kinda agree. I go to hardly any games and try to catch it on TFL show. Maybe the score should just go into the 'Post match' views thread ?

I like logging on (like last night) to find out the score without reading the whole thread/arguments by looking at the title :-)
last night every time i put sky sports news on I had just missed our score scroll across the bottom.... blinkin' annoying.

I've been doing it, I thought it would be helpful for those on the move who don't have time during a game to wade through lots of pages to find out the latest score.

More than happy not to in future, as its a pain in the backside to keep it updated.

Quite often posters have said they read the match thread without knowing the score first (there are probably other sites to visit if you want to know the score straight away), so maybe the score could be kept off the thread title for 24 hours or something, to satisfy those for whom the delayed reading of the match thread is the nearest they can get to the unfolding experience of it all.

oh dont change it on my account, I'm just being lazy and going to the link to this site instead of finding the score elsewhere or being patient! I'll either go to the game or use the official site for once! I have read the thread before to get the feel of the game and i guess before the score was put up and it was quite enjoyable (we must have been winning!) I guess before you close the thread, could you put the final FT score so people could go to the last page to find out if they haven't else where via sky/bbc/cafc/teletext?

Hi all.....as the main match thread contributor I'm pleased to read that some of you come on and read the thread to see what has happened... I don't want to spoil peoples enjoyment...and I have added the scores on the title on occasions...so from now on I wont.
    Cheers

    Thanks, RedMid.

Down here in Sunny Cornwall, I can't get to as many games as I'd like to.
So your Match Thread is often an important part of my following Charlton.

And if I can't follow it live, I like nothing better once I've come home, to fire up the old laptop and read the Match Thread retrospectively from the very beginning without knowing the score - it really gives a flavour of actually living the highs and lows of the match.

Came home last night, clicked on CL with anticipation and there it was in the thread title: final score, extra time, pens, the lot .... so frustrating, killed the moment for me.

Really appreciate that it won't now be done in future.
    Once again, thanks.

RedM, 21k page views on that thread last night. Thanks for all your efforts.

On Saturday, can you please in your opening post make clear that anyone this season putting up false information, the score, pen miss / scored etc, will be instantly banned from CL.

Well, when I say instantly I mean when I get home from the pub five hours later, but you know what I mean !

Seems like a positive outcome on this front so rather redundant me saying 'I'm with you Weegie'. Ignorance really is bliss on this score.

So its agreed, no more scores in the Match Thread title, so some people who get to it late can relive the match.

You can find the thread on Saturday stickied underneath the Birmingham 1- 1 Charlton - Post Match Views thread :-)

People might change their mind after reading 20 pages on the palace thread to find out we've lost in the last minute due to an og :)

Yes mate of course......also (and this is for speed of uploading) can I ask for photos not to go on Match Thread, as when anyone uploads a pic, it slows down me being able to update on the game?

@suziesausage, @AFKABatram.........I'll make sure I do a FT score on final page....but sometimes the thread gets closed before I can complete my thoughts.....can we leave the thread open for 10 mins after the game has finished....gives me chance to take a quick break (if you know what I mean) and come back and finish the thread?
  • Redmidland - your match thread is awesome and gives me an experience here in Asia of still being involved on a match day. Thanks.

Pleased to know I'm not THAT strange...

Thanks for sorting this out, AFKA, Red et al. Now I can go out on a Sat afternoon or Tues eve and still have it all to look forward to on my return... (when I'm not actually there, that is)!

Great news... I'm here for most of the games listening but when I miss the game I love waking up and reading through it and getting the GOAL buzz if you know what I mean ...

Not sure this discussion has been seen by @Lookout as both Post Match Views and Player Marks threads contained the score - didn't bother me last night as I was lucky enough to be there, but would be good if the score could be left out of the titles as agreed.

    Thanks, y'all...!

I know, let's never mention any scores again. They're all avaliable on the OS..........................................;-)
