What do you all think about the continuing trend of referring to Chris Powell as Sir or SCP?

Fine. It came about from talk a few years back that he was being nominated for a knighthood if I remember correctly, and it just seems to have stuck. Just rolls off the tongue!0

What is sad, however, is that should he be given this award it will then be meaningless as he has already been given this title by a group of (sorry but it's my view) immature football fans.
There are a couple of other points I would make (just in case I haven't offended enough people yet) one is that the same title was given (presumably by the same people) to Alan Pardew, which kind of belittles it in my view. The other point is that (cash for honours aside) most people that are knighted have done something spectacular to earn it. Alex Ferguson, for example, had won three Scottish League Titles, four Scottish FA Cups, a Scottish League Cup, five Premier League Titles, four FA Cups, a League Cup, The UEFA Cup, the European Cup Winners Cup, and a European Cup (Champions League) - including the treble, before he was knighted.
I love Chris Powell (Doctor Powell, thanks to his honorary degree), and he has made a massive difference since he came back to manage us, but I, personally, find all this Sir Chris Powell nonsense embarrassing and immature.
Just my view, of course, it wouldn't do for us all to agree about everything.0 -
