I used to be the proud owner of a 1968 MKII 1600 ghia. Absolutely loved that car. Unfortunately, so did someone else who promptly had it away, never to be seen again. Found the log book and keys in a box the other week.
It was the one car I truly fell in love with.
Also owned a rare 2-door MKIII for around a year.
Think you had a MK3 if it was a Ghia...or possibly you meant a Mk2 1600E?
Yes TEL it was a 1600E. My bad. Having one of those moments.....................
1970 Mark 2 1600E, BMP 589 H in gold with a black arrow down the side. Bought from a bloke in Slough who'd canibalised it to finish the red shiny one he was restoring, but it was solid as a rock despite having all the badges missing and a wooden plank under the drivers seat. Gear lever came out as I was driving it home, but simply put it back in the hole and kept going. Honeymooned in it in Devon in 1989, but a couple of years later the engine blew and that was that. Really enjoyed it though.
